especially weed

Personally, I do think weed needs to stay illegal. However, it's whatever the majority votes for. If all the potheads would vote in politicians who wanted to decriminalize weed instead of just whining about how unfair it is to keep the laws the way it is, then the laws would change.

I have known pot users and, generally, they were more interested in whining than in doing something about it. If you don't like the laws then work to change them.

When you talk of Illegal drugs, these are drugs that have no medical purpose. Who's only reason for using us to experience a "high" of some sort. There are legal drugs that are perscribed by a doctor which are illegal when not perscribed.

many of the drugs on the list needed to be controlled because of the debilitating effects on people who use it for pleasure and the affect of society in general. in the 1800's and the early 1900's there was no control over drugs. "snake oil" salesmen would have coke, opiates, amphemines and many other "curitive" substances in there curealls.

These were not regulated in any way. they didnt even have to label the products, and addiction became rampant. This is why the goverment stepped in. That's how regulation started.

The Opiates and marijuana regulation came about mainly because the main users were minorities. Chinese, and black/mexican.

Opiates remain illegal because of the addictive and damaging qualities of the drugs.

Marijuana remains illegal because there is no medical reason for the use of it.

Many people try to use cancer, or glacoma or other possable medical uses, but why would the medical personal perscribe to a cancer patient something that causes cancer. It would be like perscribing them cigars. There is a regulated pill form that is more effective with a controled dosage, but of course you can't smoke a pill.

I am not at all about to get into the statistics but think with me if you will. The last time you were with people smoking weed. Most of the time this is not the only illegal activity. Usually their is under aged drinking. Maybe other drug use. Frequently results in fights. Possibly a DUI this stands for DRIVING UNDER the INFLUENCE of any substance that alters your mental state and puts you and others at risk. The bigger issue is how do we stop the crimes listed not just you innocent little pot smokers.

It depends on the drug you are asking about. No they shouldn't legalize METH. Yes they should legalize MARIJUANA. I know you are all reading this and saying this person is just a pothead but if you really investigate on why pot became illegal believe me it has nothing to do with it being bad. It's all about money. Marijuana is the only drug out here that is not addictive, and if you don't believe me look it up. You can not find any evidence that pot kills or does any harm mentally or physically, but you can find millions of documents on booze poison, or lung cancer from cigarettes. Back before we were born cannabis oil was used in our regular pain medicine and till this day medical cannabis is used to help ill people feel better. You can not O.D. on marijuana.Shoot, the plant alone has 12 different uses. The government stands by this war on drug only because of the money. If they would legalize MARIJUANA it would take away 75% of the funding this country gets on the war on drugs. It's sad that this country lets the government kill millions of people everyday just because we are forced to use these so call safe legal drugs called prescription drugs. But ofcourse it's always easier to point the finger and say it's wrong. It's also alot easier to blame this drug than to find the truth. Look up the info. Do the research. Don't just follow the crowed. The truth is out there, YOU just have to find it. Don't judge with out knowing the truth. And if you say that this information is found only in high times you should probably look up what your own government has tried to hide for years. How sad, that this sociaty is so quick to discrimanate against something they really have no idea about, but hey NIXON said it was bad right!!!!!

No, especially not weed. Drugs are illegal now but people still abuse them, which means the idea is wrong. we test for weed because it stays in the system the longest but is the least destructive. Treating those who abuse as criminals makes us a police state while treating the abusers with solutions makes us a caring nation. Which do you want to be?

Drugs no but I do think that pot should be decriminalized. Fat chance of that though. The oil companies are paying off the politicians to keep it illegal because it's been discovered that a cleaner burning fuel than fossil fuel can be made from pot and it it were even decriminalized, they could make the cheaper fuel than oil.

To describe all the knowledge the "experts" have over the "average" marijuana smoker or any other user of illegal drugs would take an endless amount of time. Suffice it to say that no matter what one thinks about illegal drug use...it's wrong because it's illegal.

Lets not even look at the crimes associated with illegal drug use. Those "nay-sayers" who describe marijuana and other illegal drugs less harmful than alcohol....I suggest a better source of information than "High Times."

Marijuana alone is responsible as a "secondary cause" of many fatalities (the primary cause being that the driver hit a parked tree) in those cases researched.

Marijuana alone...

Effects of use:

nausea, especially in combination with alcohol, some pharmaceuticals, or other psychoactives
coughing, asthma, upper respiratory problems
difficulty with short term memory during effects and during periods of frequent use (Ranganathan M, D'Souza DC, Psychopharmacology, 2006)
racing heart, agitation, feeling tense
mild to severe anxiety
panic attacks in sensitive users or with very high doses (oral use increases risk of getting too much)
headaches
dizziness, confusion
lightheadedness or fainting (in cases of lowered blood pressure)
paranoid & anxious thoughts more frequent
possible psychological dependence on cannabis
clumsiness, loss of coordination at high doses
can precipitate or exacerbate latent or existing mental disorders

Withdrawal Symptoms

mild to moderate, non life-threatening withdrawal symptoms occur after daily use in some users. These may last for 1-6 weeks after cessation of use and can include anxiety, anhedonia (reduced experience of pleasure), headaches, general unease/discomfort, difficulty sleeping, and a desire to smoke pot. Severity of symptoms is related to frequency of use and individual sensitivity.
slight loss of appetite
finding non-stoned life a bit dull, increased boredom

Legalization of drugs? Sure..why not let the whole world get high...stay high to avoid the down side of the drugs...steal from each other to get more...kill each other for the others supply...get involved in domestic violence because of drug abuse effects!

OK...tax the heck out of it...yet those tax dollars will go to the medical expenses used for the overdose cases and medical expenses associated with the abuse!

Sadly...the pro-dopers will give you their personal experiences of how great the drugs are yet I bet my bottom dollar there are underlying issues to their drug use to start!

Again...JMHO...and with that said...I'll rest easier knowing that the pilot of my jet...dentist in my mouth...heart surgeon...veteranarian...food processor...and every other important person in our lives is straight thinking and normal!

Depends what drugs. In my experience Ecstasy causes less hassle than anything. Leave people to it. When a whole pub is onj ecstasy it is so much better compared to when a whole pub is on booze. But E doesn't give the government any tax so there's your answer!

you want my opinion? there it is
I'm not happy to waste millions of taxes dollars in order to fight
the drug dealers and the drug consumers
we should let the people choose in which way
they want commit suicide;alcohol;cigarette,drugs
and whatever all of this in name of freedom and democracy.

so my answer to your question is legalize any kind of toxic
substances in order to allow the public a free use.

amen!!
