For Abraham, to understand intellectually, reasoning was involved - to understand that God could raise a person from the dead.
But recall, Hebrew says that without faith, it is impossible to please God.

For one to acknowledge the God-concept as a truth, it takes faith, not reason or logic. To have a personal relationship with God, and to please God it takes faith. For by Grace "thorugh faith" is a person's spirit saved, not by works.."
James said, to work out your own salvation, the salvation of your soul{mind, will and emotions) with fear and trembling.

Faith comes from within the spirit of a person.
But James, the brother of Jesus said
That we must work out the salvation of our soul{the soul is the mind, will and emotions of a person). That is what James meant by salvation is by faith and good works. Jesus saves the spirit of a person, and the person works out their own salvation of their soul{mind, will and emotions), through Rom. 12:2 "Do not be conformed to this world, but be "transformed" {the person transforms their mind, will and emotions with the word of God), in order to please God by faith {proving what is the Good, Acceptable, and perfect will of God).

Abraham reasoned {with his renewed, transformed soul/mind) - believing {faith, which comes from a person's spirit, which Jesus saved) that God could raise the dead.

Part of renewing and transforming the mind {Rom. 12:2) to work out the salvation of our
"soul"{mind, will and emotions) is to fully understand intellectually what the bible really means in its "original languages = Hebrew and Greek". And the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible is the means to help us to renew and transform our minds, to do this.
The Strong's gives us the original meanings of the words in the bible - it has the word in the Hebrew (for the Old Testament), then the word written in english, then the original meaning("s").
Every word in the bible has many meanings, not just one. The Hebrew and Greek languages are very detailed, and complex.
The Strong's aids us a lot in transforming the mind to the word, thus working out the salvation of the soul{the mind, will, and emotions) as James said to do, and Paul emphasized the importance of doing in Rom. 12:2.
As a person understands intellectually with the mind {by using the STrong's), then, through faith applies what it says, the word becomes a reality in their lives. It is thus alive, active - working in and through them.

You can download for FREE, the Strong's Concordance of the entire bible through

It says, down E-Sword Now, and click that button to download it, for FREE onto your computer, otherwise it will cost you $25.00
to buy a Strong's Concordance.

I have the Strong's and the New King James downloaded onto my computer, and use it quite regularly.

In order to believe in God, and believe what the bible says, it takes Faith. In order to "understand" the bible intellectually - to renew and transform your mind {soul), use the Strong's to study the scriptures. Paul said, in Timothy's book - to study, to show yourself approved - handling accurately the word.

Hope this helps. Take Care.

I think it's more like emotion, if I'm not mistaken. Belief in god is generally an emotional thing.

there's tons of reasoning behind it. Like how time didn't start itself for an example.

and there have been recent ressurections, just none you believe in.

If you investigate, truly investigate, you will come to reason that he exists more so that you and I. Abraham investigated and reached at that conclusion that g-d undoubtedly exists.
