Y: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard.

As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and
ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).

P: Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women).

So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear
rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them.

Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.

S: Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them
to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they
obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.

Oh yea, I now understand where I have been going wrong with women. I have not been beating them enough into submission. So the cave man had it right all alone. Club those women and be happy as long as you have a house and protect them. Let us not forget when we have an argument send the woman to sleep on the couch after all I am the stronger party and can kick her to the curve.

Got it!

I am sure there is a comedy routine in this...

That is the same sura written three times.. but anyway.. The first translation is the Abdullah Yusuf Ali translation and is widely regarded as being the most accurate. Basically what is says is that it is the man's duty to protect and support his wife and if a man should get called away, his wife should protect his belongings. Next, it says that if a woman is acting ill towards her husband, then he should tell them to stop; if she continues, then stop sharing the same bed; if she persists further, then LIGHTLY beat them.

Yes, this can be taken seriously out of context, but all it says is that if a man were to support his wife, and she repays him by treating him poorly, then he has the right to tell her to correct her way of thinking.

Can you honestly say, that if your wife was a housewife, and you fully supported her, that if you found out she was out spending all your hard-earned money without telling you, you wouldn't yell at her? Or then move on to sleeping in a different room?

Who cares what is said in the unholy quran by allah? Interpretations of beating lightly have ranged from don't hit her face to no broken bones. No man should hit a woman since they do know they are physically stronger. Any man that does is just a coward. That seems to be a popular way of life for Muslim men. Cowards that hid in mosques. Cowards that strap on bombs to blow up innocent people. Cowards that launch grenades and rockets from civilian locations, hiding behind woman and children. It's disgusting.

May God Bless you.

Well, it's a terribly antiquated view of women. We now know that while men may have stronger upper body, physical strength than women, women are more tolerant to pain than men. Also - without us men wouldn't exist. So, in all fairness, both sexes have strengths and weaknesses. Where one is weak the other is strong. Therefore, men and women are equal. We know that now. No sense in continuing sexism just to make men with small penises feel good about themselves. :)

Muhammad, in addition to being a scamster, was a male chauvinist pig. But considering the mores of the era in which he lived, he was more liberal than most of his contemporaries, who were REALLY male chauvinist pigs.
