Any of them will work. Go with what your pocketbook allows. The "home premium" and "ultimate" versions have some advantages for home users with multimedia, and if you have an xbox 360, you can use it as a media extender to view your movies, photos, and mp3s on your TV.

No version of Vista can replace XP home.
Because Vista is loaded with DRM.
Don't believe it?
Then you should read this short article from Forbes Magazine.
http://www.forbes.com/security/2007/02/10/microsoft-vista-drm-tech-security-cz_bs_0212vista.html
That should answer all of your questions about Vista.

Any one... but it's all about your computer. If you only have 512MB of RAM and only 30GB of free hard drive space, then consider Windows Vista Home. But why would you? Stick with WIndows XP Home. It would be faster than Vista in your poor old rig.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

Any version really - as long as your computer is optimised to support Vista. You can find out by the XP tag on the computer.

you must check if you computer is ready for vista. If you computer works under xp home, this doesn't mean that this computer can work under vista. Use vista setup advisor to check if you computer can run under vista. If your computer can do it, this program will tell you which version is best for your computer

you want to really make up your options before setting up Vista because, sure, that is going to gobble up your XP homestead...it truly is a distinct OS altogether so do not improve, do exactly a sparkling installation in case you fairly opt for to regulate your OS into Vista.

Stick with XP, too many people are complaining about Vista right now, too many blips for too little benefit.

if you get vista you will need to get newer or updated versions of all your existing software, i would wait until vista is more mainstream and popular.
