Wise men still seek Him.

If you're saying that everything that is attributed to Jesus in the Bible could fit on one sheet of paper, you're crazy. I challenge you to type just Matthew chapters 5-7 on one sheet of paper in Times New Roman 12 double-spaced. And that's just one sermon of his recorded in the New Testament.
The reason "sophisticated men" don't quote the great philosophies of Jesus is simple. You can only come to two conclusions about Jesus if you believe what is recorded in the Bible is what he said.
1. He was exactly who the Bible and himself claimed he was, which is the Son of God, Deity in human form.
2. He was a crazed lunatic.

Think about it, if I was a great moralist who had great views on life and love and all that, but had one little flaw in my teaching, and that flaw was that I claimed to be God, it would kinda put a damper on all my other great teachings. If you really look at Scripture with an open mind, those are the only two rational opinions that you can come up with about Jesus. A good teacher who claims to be God? I don't think so.
So if "sophisticated men" began quoting Jesus' views on life and love and happiness they would in a sense be validating everything that Jesus said, and that would include his claim that he was God. And that's something that most of those men will never do.

Perhaps it is because we have no idea what Jesus actually said. There are no originals of the New Testament canon or, for that matter, COPIES of the originals, or COPIES OF COPIES. All we have are the translations that have been marred with other individual's interpretation of what the guy said. The gospels don't even agree on what day he was crucified (See John and compare it to Matt., Mark, and Luke) or if there were Magi (Matthew) or Shepherds (Luke). HOW CAN WE KNOW WHAT HE SAID???

All we have is the Bible, which gives us rough guesses as to what He said and some good lessons as to his teachings.

Philosophers are also very anchored in history and are less "offensive" than quoting the Christ.

You mean if I say something like "God doesn't play dice" - oh yeah, that was Einstein paraphrasing Jesus - but Einstein was a scientist... my error. And Roman - nice font. Yes, everything recorded that Jesus said would fit in about that much space.....

Most modern sophisticated men find the bible doesn't do very well when their trying to impress the ladies. Imagine "Good evening miss, don't build your house on the sand" - doesn't cut it...

Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? -1 Corinthians 1:20

No. It's because the "great philosophers" developed thier insightful views a thousand years before Jesus and WITHOUT THE HELP OF JESUS!

It's not like Jesus was the first guy in religious or philisophical history to say, "Hey, can't we all just get along?"

Jesus did speak relatively few words and yet turned the world upside down and changed the course of history for all time and eternity.

It was the hair. It turned off the smart guys...In high school their are a bunch of goths everyone calls Jesus because of their ridiculous girl-hair.

Examples please. I know of plenty of great and sophisticated men of past and present that quote Jesus. Those that don't do it to not alienate other non-believers.
