Jack Daniel's famous No.7 brand famously claims to have been 'made and mellowed' in Tenessee since 1866. Does this include the 13 years of prohibiton in the 1920's and 30's?

I think the law stated that the manufacture and transportation of alcohol was illegal, rather than its consumption....

A lot of liquor companies changed gears and started to make legal wares from their equipment. Grain alcohol for medicine or for production of other chemicals was a way to go. The process that makes whisky can be used to make other needed materials. A lot of those companies just switched gears and waited out prohibition.

I visited the Distillery in 2005 and was amazed to find out that the county the Distillery is in is still a dry one! You was allowed to buy from the shop located there (which was the only place within the county that you could buy Alcohol) but you was not allowed to drink any until you was over the line.
Straight over the county line on the way back to Nashville is a town called 'Shelbyville' (the surprise for a Simpson fan!) and opposite the county line (yes there is one) was a liquor store all ready for a coach load of tourist which stocked plenty of nice JD stuff.

Less than what your gonna be downing tonight after losing the Wild Card spot. Edit: And lay off Hamilton, will you? So what if he made a mistake? He's only human and he's going to learn from this. edit 2: I'll be fine Chris. Texas is a young team with potential to succed in the future. If they don't make it this year, no worries cause my football team will do just fine. :]

Like everyone else I expect they kept making it! What a mistake prohibition was. (Could only happen in the Land Of The Free). It took the US upwards of fifty years to face down the structure of organised crime it generated.

Never mind that, thank god JD did keep making it. A great drink!

Like most distilleries, they closed their doors during prohibition.

However, some breweries started brewing root beer. Henry Weintraub, for example, still brews beer and root beer.

My guess is that they continued to make it. They just wern't as vocal about it. People drank more during prohibition than ever.
