At the animal clinic that i work at. we suggest to wait for 3 days to a week. so that when bathing him it wont wash away the treatment.

there were many good points from the other posters, you should wait a few days before bathing him, and you should check with the vet about the flea bath, which should only be done after a certain age (it says on the bottle usually) and NEVER use flea products made for dogs on your cat!! it could kill it! a cat's system is much more sensitive than a dog's.
the fleas should die VERY soon, 24-48 hrs, so you may want to just wait. and be sure to repeat the medication as directed to prevent future infestations (this will keep them out of your house as well, as they can only live on animals, not in carpet or on humans, and if the animal has flea medication on it they cannot be a host. eggs can be in the carpet, but the fleas that hatch will die without a host)
bathing a cat can be very difficult, unless it is a kitten or used to being bathed regularly its whole life, or just likes water for some reason. (i actually got an old stray that i had to bathe, and he loved it!! i also had a cat who loved to swim. so it isn't unheard of, though!!!)

Most of the people here are answering for plain bathing. Since you want to use a flea shampoo, call your vet and ask. If you go ahead based on the advice of stangers on the Internet, you may kill your cat. A phone call takes only a few minutes and is generally free. This way you'll know you have a good answer.
When you speak with someone, be very clear that you want to use a flea shampoo on the kitten and that he just got frontline. Ask several times if you have to. If you can, ask to speak with a vet tech or a vet assistant. While the front desk people can be great, they aren't as knowlegable as a vet tech or vet assistant.

Frontline generally recommends that you wait 24-48 hours after applying the medication before you bathe your cat.
Go ahead and wait a little while. The fleas may all die off. If they don't, try bathing with just water and a mild shampoo. I don't think a flea bath would be necessary.
Good luck!

you shouldn't bathe your kitty until 48 hours after the Frontline was put on this gives it time to absorb into their skin after that you can bathe the kitty. Otherwise you wasted about 10-15 bucks. It takes a few days for the Frontline to kill the fleas but it will. Good Luck

NO NO NO!!!! The Frontline will soon kill the fleas on him and any that will settle on him within the 30 day period. If you shampoo the cat will another flea med, you can poison him and kill him. ITs like getting an overdose. DON'T DO IT!!!! Just be patient and allow Frontline to kick in.

Bathing a cat is very traumatic for them (and maybe even you when you see them soaked and unhappy). I gave my cat a bath a few months ago, and I used Advantage (flea stuff) and within a day or so, the fleas were back. Save yourself and your cat the trouble - stick with the stuff that you put on their neck and vaccum LOTS. In a month, do it again. It may take a bit to get rid of the fleas. You might also have to get medicine for your kitty to de-worm them - they eat the fleas which gives them worms. Kinda gross. Good luck.

Yes, you can bathe him 24 hours after applying frontline. When you bathe a cat the fleas tend to go in their ears and eyes, so be careful you don't get shampoo in his eyes and be careful about water in his ears. You could also comb him with a flea comb to remove the dead fleas. Make sure you apply frontline again within 30 days if not sooner so you can get the new fleas that will mature in that time. I hope that answered your question.

I would not bath him in flea shampoo. Give him a bath in Dawn, it stuns the fleas then you can comb them and wash them out. Also depending on the age he can not have flea treatment or flea baths. Dawn is safe no matter what age.

Yes, you may need to flea bomb your house as well. Those darn fleas reproduce so fast!! You can buy the flea bomb at the grocery store for like 16 bucks. Remember take any living animals and people out of your house while you bomb. It takes about 8 hours.
