I am going on a cruise and our champagne options are Korbel Brut (California) and a Mumm's Cordon Rouge, Brut. It's a special occassion so I'd like to have the best one.

The Cordon Rouge a more authetic example of French Champagne. It is an actual Champagne compared to Korbel, which is merely a Sparkling wine from California. Each are similar in body and price; Mumm offers a more complexity. Both are mass produced and there are many, many better options out there. Given the choice, I would go with the real deal, the Cordon Rouge.

Mumm's Cordon Rouge Brut has a better reputation, but I served Korbel Brut at my own wedding with lovely results. However, the toast of just the family was with a Moet and Chandon Brut, truly excellent.
If you want to splurge a little bit, try Kristal or Perrier Jouet.

Easy decision....Mumm Cordon Rouge. It's the real thing. Korbel is the Budweiser of California sparkling wines. There are dozens of comparably priced sparkling wines that are way better than Korbsmell. Enjoy your cruise and enjoy your Cordon Rouge. Whatever the price difference is...it's worth it!

the korbel is better but do not get the extra dry kind just regular korbel have a nice cruise.

Hi,,, hmmm,,, i much prefer Spumante,,,,,, myself... but Korbel seems sorta dry ... to me.....
