Tom Cats do not go into heat. Females go into heat only. Male cats start to be sexual mature around 6 months old. That is when they should be fixed.

Tom cats are boy cats and they do not go into heat, only females do. It isn't unusual for a male cat to be sexually active as young as 6 months, even earlier if he has an unspayed female in the house. When Tom cats are not neutered they tend to wander off or run away, their heads get much larger than most cats and they have territories and fight other Tom's if they come into their territory. Their urine also smells terrible if they are not neutered. An unneutered Tom Cat can father hundred of thousands of kittens in what usually is a short life for a cat, because of disease and fights with other cats. That was probably more than you asked for, but I really believe in neutering cats. There are to many in this world. I hope this helps you.

Tom cats don't go into heat. Tom cats are boys. They mate when a female goes into heat.

Tom cats, like all males of all species, are ready anytime, anyplace, any female. Think of them as being permanently in heat.

Male cats don't go into heat. They're ready whenever the female is- provided some other male isn't fighting him!
