He has these small, off-white, gooey flecks that come from his behind. What are they?

Sounds like tapeworms to me. Cats and dogs usually get tapeworms by ingesting a flea. These tapeworms are not contagious to you, not the same type of tapeworms humans get. You need to take a sample of the worm to your vet or give him a call. These worms do not show up in a fecal sample because they don't lay eggs which is what the vet looks for in a sample. They are very common but need to be treated because they are living off of your cat. I hope this helped answer your question.

Do the flakes look like corns of rice? Then it could be worms. They die when they come into the air. If that's the case, you need to take him to the vet and get a pill. Also, it's important to give the monthly flea medicine like Advantage because that keeps the worms from forming. If possible, collect a fresh stool specimen.(I had to do that as ordered by the vet before I came in with my cat) If you can't get that, then the vet will insert a probe and get a specimen at the office. That tells them whether it's worms.

Could it possibly be worms?? That is what is sounds like to me. If it is round worm you can get something at the pet store but tapeworm med. can only be gotten from the vet. Since you are not sure what it is then you must take him in for an appiontment. They can get worms from fleas so a good flea prevenative would also be a great idea!!

I don't know where from his behind they are coming from but it sounds like your cat may have tape worms. Call your vet and get and appointment. or go to your local pet store and get some tape worm pills and give to your cat as per directions. It is kinda spendy though about $25 just for the treatment

Tapeworm segments I suspect. Tapeworm and fleas go together. Cats get tapeworm when they ingest fleas that contain tapeworm eggs. You'll need to treat your kitty for fleas and take him to the vet to get him dewormed for tapworms. If you want to do it at home, you can buy tapeworm tabs at Petco or Petsmart. Folow labe directions carefully. Then you'll have to apply a really good flea med on him too (Advantage kills fleas within 6 hrs) and treat the cat's environment for fleas. Wash all his beddings.

if they're actually coming from this anus you should check to see if they're worms, although most vets giving de-wormer after a neuter.

if it's where his testes used to be then it is probably testosterone bumps that will fade with time after he is neutered.

Only your Vet can tell you for sure what they are ... and I think that if you are 'worried' about them, you should take the cat to him/her and ask.

I would take him back to your vet and have him checked. He could have an infection. Do not wait to take him back.
