The alleged danger is just a lot of hype. When I bought my current home, I was concerned about the huge power line tower right behind my back fence. The retired engineer my realtor hired to do the home inspection kind of laughed when I inquired to him about it.
This gentlemen took a meter out of this bag to measure the radiation coming off the tower. He measured directly underneath the lines, and at my fence. Then, he took me around the house, measuring about everything electrical. What read the highest; the microwave? No. The TV? No. The highest reading was from an alarm clock. Every appliance in the house read higher than the power lines.
