I want to buy a new car. When is the best time to buy one? I was going to wait till around June, but would it be better to get one earlier or later?

Alot of people believe it is best to wait until the end of the month, end of the quarter, or end of the model year to get the best deal. This is because its the last chance for the dealer to account for a sale and makes their numbers look better ie hitting the quota. Then again if they've reached the quota, it wouldn't really benefit them as much to dump the car for a really low value. I would recommend that you take your time purchasing the car. After narrowing it down and selecting the car you want, shop multiple dealerships that have the car and make sure to let the sales person know you are also looking at the same car at the dealership on the other side of town. And it couldnt' hurt to tell them you are also considering that particular car's direct competition. This makes them aware you are going to purchase something and they will do what they can to sell you theirs. Good luck!

Ideally you should wait until the end of the year when the dealerships need to get the 07 cars off the lot to make room for the newyear models. At that time you will find alot of commercials on the radio and TV.

If you can wait... do it.

If you are not settled in your mind on a particular car, visit the dealers and 'squeeze' the best price out of them. Often they are required to reach a quota on sales to avoid being overlooked by the manufacturer in the future.

The best time to buy is Jan-Mar. I just got my new Mercedes. Hagled with BMW and Mercedes at the same time. They were so desperate they wanted to practically give me the car. Sales are generally slower before tax time.
