I'm too shy to flirt or compliment him! What should I do?

I would like him to know I'm interested, but I am much to shy to step out of my comfort zone or make an effort to flirt or compliment him. It takes a lot sometimes for me to step out of my shell but I'm afraid that because of this I'll never find out what he thinks of me. What else can I do without having to overstep my own boundaries? I just can't bring myself to give a compliment or flirt. Because it takes so much effort to do things like that, I feel like they would somehow sound fake or insincere or like I am desperate or trying too hard!

I'm not to sure but you are not alone there are many girls that clam up when they have to talk to guys
