yes you should.Everyone thinks that you should jump in the bed and make a baby then worry about testing while the mother is pregnant.WRONG! You both need to go to your doctors and tell the doctor you plan on starting a family and want to make sure you and your wife is healthy. They will do a basic physical and any blood work they think is needed. The doctor will also refer you both to a genectic cousel to get both parents to be family medical history and tell you what if any chance the baby will have of having a handicap or illness.

You can talk to a doctor about any genetic possibilities but if your families don't demonstrate it, there isn't too much of a concern. It is good to have a test of STDs, just to be sure that there isn't something without symptoms lurking. The doctor may give her a physical to see if anything may be a concern. But many of us got pregnant with out meaning to and we have healthy babies.

The OB will likely do all those tests once you get pregnant, but if you want to know you should both be tested for HIV and syphillis, and she should have a Pap done and GC/chlamydia testing.

The world is full of children who need to be adopted. I admire people who take that route. I would never bring a child into this crazy, messed up world.

When you get pregnant they test you for EVERYTHING.. If you are concerned about it though, get tested before just to ease your mind. Good luck..

No. Your doctor will run tests if he feels theyre needed.
You can have your RH factors done, but generally thats pointless.

a thorough check-up is a good idea. a health exam to see if you're both in good shape. A fertility test i think is also vital.
