after all, those who want religion taught in public schools expect everyone else's taxes to pay for their religion to be taught in public school instead of at church, don't they?

Religion is the most lucrative business in the world. They should be classified as such, and have to pay taxes accordingly.

I think it's totally unfair that they are tax-exempt. But this is also a problem with people giving so much money to churches. It's crazy! And no matter what, religion should not ever come back into public school. There are, as there well should be, two separate places for these two distinct areas of our lives: school - education, church - religion/God.

Churches are a business, no question, and should be taxed as every other business is taxed. I would predict a big problem with getting them to accurately report the funds collected, as sometimes they will pass the plate more than once during services. They should be taxed on income and on property holdings as well as investments. Clearly, there is a vast revenue source waiting to be taxed for school funding. Best wishes.

The Church's are considered non-profits. Even though we would like to see them taxed thats not going to happen. But they can atleast take action and start some small schools for children who cannot afford to goto school or start a small clinic or hospital doing free service instead of building big indoor gyms which are used very few times a year

IF the Churches don't begin giving their tithe money to the greater good of the public, AS I BELIEVE NEEDS to happen... Then I'd say YES! I see NO REASON why a Church couldn't return 10% of their monies to the betterment of the community. AND I'M A CHRISTIAN!

At the very least they should open schools for the congregation and not charge tuition. Unlike now that tuition is expensive.

Yes in this day and age they should pay taxes. Why they do not baffles me.

no, we should be given vouchers so that we can use our school tax money to support religious schools, if that is where we want our children to go.
