A week and a half ago I started the South Beach Diet. I was 169 lbs. Today I weighed myself this morning and I was 156!
I want to lose more. My goal is between 125 and 130. I am 5 ft 4 in.
I feel healthier since I started the diet. I need to start exercising though. What would be some good exercises to do that help with weight loss, especially the belly area?

Yes, you are doing great so far! Keep up the good work, and you will reach your goal. Don't get discouraged if your weight loss tapers off and you have a week where you don't lose any weight. That was kind of a lot to lose in less than 2 weeks, so I am guessing a lot of it was water weight. It might go slower for the last 25 pounds you have to go, but keep working.

Wow! That is great! Congratulations. I would definitely recommend adding excercise to your program. You should do some sort of cardio (walking, jogging, elliptical) and also start doing weight machines. Building muscle will raise your metabolism even more! As far as losing fat from the belly area...just do 30-45 minutes or cardio a day and that will start to go away. you can't spot train and pick where you lose the fat from. but if you are burning fat all over...it will go too! just start off with whatever you can do and go from there! hope this helps!
good luck :) sounds like you are off to a great start

If you are going to START exercising, you need to STOP South Beach - at least Stage 1.

Exercise requires carbohydrates (quick energy), so really watch this carefully. You can't be on Stage 1 of South Beach and workout consistantly. However, cardiovascular exercise will burn fat all over, including the belly area.

Congratulations.
Walking is always a good start, you can begin at an easy pace, and increase your speed and distance.
