why did he do that what was his reasons for doing that

The Seminole were crazed Indians. All Indians were waring Indians and they got what they deserved. I'm part Cherokee and I bet you didn't even know that the Cherokee were once cannibalistic. They thought is was a delicacy to eat an unborn child.

He felt that Native Americans had no rights to the land. He had no concept of cultural differences and thought it was perfectly legal to steal land via unfair treaties. Although he adopted a Native American boy, his actions seem to indicate that he felt Native Americans, like slaves, were lesser people than whites.

I vaguely remember something about his childhood experience with native americans as being less than fantastic. It seemed he held a grudge. But that could be total junk i don't really know...
