I go to quite a few of p2p's and I reckon that a good pair if wellies are a must really although working boots will be ok as long as you don't mind getting them dirty. Layers are also a must as it is likely to be freezing and you will need a good thick coat and I like to wear a flat cap to keep my head warm.
With regards to other things, the beer will be expensive so take your own and also you could take some food (sausages rolls, sandwiches and such like), if pssible take a 4x4 as they are often required although there is normally some tractors to pull you out.
On the betting front, I like to bet with the trainers that have good records and it's not normally as open as "proper" racing.

I was at a p-t-p on Saturday, it was freezing! Definitely wear lots of layers and a good waterproof jacket. Wellies would be useful, but a good pair of boots would do the trick.
Have fun!

forget the flowery dress and the chifffon hat - thats Ascot. This is a much more muddy affair there will be a lot of wellies and wax jackets around - anything you dont mind spilling a hotdog down really.

It depends on the season and the weather at the time, but in general, a good pair of walking shoes, and casual clothing that you don't mind getting dirty is usually best. Be prepared for rain- and if it's early in the year, for cold weather and even snow. Dress in layers so you don't freeze. Hope that helps.

In my experience a pair of Wellies and a Sou'wester wouldn't come amiss!
