They may not be zits. In fact they probably aren't. They may be ingrown hairs. Or razor burn. Are the blemishes below your chin? Then they're probably not zits.
I would first talk to a dermatologist to find if there are any skin conditions that MAY be causing the problems you're having.
Next, shaving is EXPENSIVE! That's my opinion of it. If you haven't tried an electric shaver, you may want to try that. One of the rotary kinds with the three spinning blades.
But I had the same problems with that, too. It's helipful to shave daily, at the same time each day. I have a whole shaving ritual, and here's what I do, and it is slightly expensive...
The night before I go to bed, I wash my face and neck with Cetaphil Daily Facial Wash. Costs a bit but lasts a pretty long time. Then when I wake up to shave, I use a Jack Black facial scrub. But only EVERY OTHER DAY, otherwise it will injure your skin. Again, I only use the facial scrub every second day. On the days when I don't use the scrub I just rinse my face with lukewarm water before shaving.
Then, before I shave every morning, I use Jack Black beard lube. This is light years ahead of any shaving cream or gel that you will ever use. Follow the instructions; You only need a quarter-sized dab on your hand to do your WHOLE face.
Then using your razor, shave WITH the grain, in other words from top down. I don't recommend shaving against the grain from bottom up. The only person who will notice this will be your girlfriend. If she doesn't like it, well, work something out with her.
Then no aftershave, just a moisturizer. I recommend Cetaphil's moisturizer again, since it's one of the few that won't clog pores.
At the middle of the day, when your face starts to look shiny, you may want to try the daily facial wash again, otherwise just use a TINY drop of soap along with water to wash your face.
Then you start from the first time I said 'Daily Facial Wash' again before you go to sleep. I've had a lot of success with this. If you are acne prone, well, there's another guy on this board who will recommend some warm compresses for you. As far as I know this seems to work well too. Write me back if you have any questions and I'll see if I can track him down.

You have sensitive Skin and by shaving aggravate it. Your "zits" are from having ingrown hairs that occur after shaving.
There are Prescriptions available from a Dermatologist to help prevent this rash. It would be worht getting for this problem does not go away over time.

the rash I would say is razor burn which tells me you probably have sensitive skin. Try different shaving creams for sensitive skin. The zits are probably hairs becoming ingrownas they come back in. Unfortunately I don't know much you can do about it other than pop those bastards.

I think you need to replace your blade, getting a rash could also be caused by the way you shave, using too much pressure. I would purchase a quality electric shaver with replaceable blades, and apply aloe vera to your face following the shaving.

Is sounds like you might getting bacteria in it.
Try switching out to new razors more often and shaving with the grain of your hair and not against it.
