I have grandparents who have adopted my dad from France. Last summer, I had the opportunity to meet them in person for the first time in France. After learning alot about their lifestyle, (I was there for 2 1/2 months), I have come to realize that I want to relocate myself to France to stay with my grandparents. I am studying French and I want to know the language very well first to move. How long should I wait to move?

Silly as this may sound, write them a "real close " letter from the heart expressing your desires, I am a Grandparent 14 times over, and notes written in confidence are rare and important to me. You will really know when you get their response back. I believe it will be a positive one. The experience will be breathtaking, but keep a real sharp look-out for french young men...........need I say more? God Bless !!

You don't have to wait, you will learn the language much faster if you live there. As you will be forced to communicate in french people on a daily basis.

I think you should go as soon as you have basic-good conversational skills. As long as you can hold a conversation you should be ok. Being around french speakers all the time will make your french alot better.
Au Revoir!

id go as soon as i could theres no better way to learn a language than experience it first hand, ul pick it up quicker hearing it everyday than learning it out of book or in classes. your grandparents can always help you out aswell.
