If you have someone coming in to fill the bowl with fresh food and water and change the kitty litter every day your little guy will be fine. He will give you loves when you come home--he will miss you--but my experience has been that your cat will be fine!

My experience is this: I had to go out of town for business (a total of about 4 days). My mom stopped by to feed him, change his box, and all the other "chores." My little boy (who was probably about 6 months old) hissed and growled at her every time she came over. Prior to this he would let her hold him! But perhaps it's because they were now on his turf.
When I returned he was still upset; he hissed and growled at my parents when they dropped me off after picking me up at the airport. He also hissed at me. It took him a good two days to finally forgive me.
If you can, have the person who will be taking care of your little guy come over often prior to your leaving so he gets used to the person being an "intruder." Cats are very territorial and protective of their turf, and this will help him to adjust before you're gone.

I have taken several short trips and the first one is the worst really for you mostly cause you worry. The cat will probably be lonely and maybe distant when you come back. Or depending on his personallity even more playfull and showing he missed you. Short trips are ok, longer ones are bad. We left my cat for 2 months with people taking care of her but still, she escaped and didnt come back.

When ever I go out of town my cats wont have anything to do with me for a few hours after I get back. But after that they are fine. Just give your little guy alot of love and he will be fine

There is a possiblilty he won't speak to you for a couple of days just when you get home make a big deal of him lots of treats and play time they get over it fast I have two kitties and I had to be gone for two weeks they let me know that they didn't like being home alone for so long but they were fine in a couple of days.

Our cats react when we go away for more than a few days. They react in different ways -- because they are different cats.
*my* cat will not talk to me for about a day after we return, then she loves me as if nothing happened. The other cats aren't as standoffish. My wife's cat jumps on her like he's so happy to see her, as soon as we return.

probably, but probably not long. mine turn the nose up at me if i'm gone over night! they soon come their senses and forgive me!
also make sure the care person will take the time to play with and talk to your cat each day! that might help!

It depends on your cat as to how it will react. Mine gets in a strop as soon as she sees me packing! But they always get over it quickly, so try not to worry too much. The first time is always the worst.

He will certainly notice that you are gone and be very affectionate when you return. However once you are back within a few hours of your return he will totally have forgiven you
