what is a good way to prepare a steak in a pan on a stove? i usually throw it on the grill, but i am outta propane and wont be able to get any for awhile. thanks.

This is a resturaunt tip. In a frying pan, no oil, heat the pan until it is very hot. med-high is good, salt and pepper the steak on both sides, best to use kosher salt, as you fry it it makes a crust. Fry aboout 4 minutes on each side for med-rare to med. Very good.

In a pan - I love a medium-rare steak !! I used to always have it very well done because I was a bit scared of the blood but its so nice & tender to just fry it in a pan for a few seconds each side... oh, and a sprinkle of black pepper, MMMmmmmm and a glass of red wine.

Broil on each side a couple of minutes then bake but make sure you cover it lightly with foil so it doesn't dry!

start it in a pan to get the outside seared and selaed, then finish it off in the oven...
