No. The modern concept of Satan is found NOWHERE in the OT and very rarely in the NT. It's folk mytholgy, superstition, and a product of Zoroastrian dualism's influence on Judaism. I believe in God, but NOT Satan.

well from personal experience, when someone says they believe in the devil, they also believe in God. The devil as in the spirit that is causing bad things to happen in the workd today and God as the one allowing them to happen for a period of time and then will step in and get rid of the devil and the badness of the world.
So no, I don't think when someone says they believe in the devil they are saying they don't believe in God. I also don't think it should be interpreted as rude because everyone has a right to believe in what they want.

You have to believe in the Devil if you believe in God because God says he exist. You can't believe in one and not the other so I would think that it would be just a way of saying that God exist.
Now if they said they worshiped the Devil it would be a different story

Believing is different from following.
Real Christians believe in the existence of the devil but never does the will of the devil.
James 4:7 Be subject therefore unto God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Come again??? If someone says they believe in the devil they might be a satanist which means they do believe in God (please, leave me alone on the LeVay crap...I KNOW OKAY).
Or they might be one of the many Christian groups who do not believe in a devil form. Or they may be someone who believes in GOD but not Satan. Heavens there are hundreds of possibilities.
No wonder you are not converting anyone.

I am a Christian, and I believe in the devil.
There is a difference between believing that someone exists, and worshipping them.
If you are a servant of the Living God, you better believe in satan, because thats what the entire spiritual war thats going on is all about,
and satan is Christs enemy. How the hell can you serve God if you don't believe He tells you the truth when He tells you about Satan?

It just means they have been tricked by Lucifer just as many fallen angels were. I believe in the devil as well but, I dont worship him. I think that is what you mean. Some think they will get power but none will come to them. The devil is the father of lies a great deceiver and very cunning. Get into a relationship with the Lord where we will not fall for his lies and tricks. Never compromise that is a road to destruction. Amen and Peace out................

It would depend on the way and place they said it. If you believe the Bible then you must believe in Satan. The bible has Satan as a real creature wandering in the world and in communication with God. Satan tempted Eve with the fruit of the knowledge in Eden, Satan tormented Job to test him for God. Satan spoke to Jesus in the wilderness. Satan is one of the Christian Gods, lower ranking but still a supernatural immortal being with power over humans.
So if you are Christian you should believe in the Devil.
Satanists think of Satan as a symbol.
Be careful though, there are messed up people who use the demonic part of the story to justify their evil fantasies. they are dangerous.
Abdul is right, the old testament Satan was not evil opposing good. He was God's helper and his job was to test God's creations. The later version of Satan as a Godlike evil power, equal but opposite to God is indeed Zoroastran.

saying you believe in the devil is to admit that you believe in God. there is no satan without God. Anyone believer in God believes in the devil also.
Maybe you mean worship the devil- either way to worship the devil you have to believe in God. You just prefer hell to heaven.

I believe that the devil exists. He currently rules this world. I'm glad that I have Jesus to protect me.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

If someone says they believe in the devil, they should believe in God. After all they are arch-enemies. That's what the whole conflict is about, right?God vs. Satan?
