I am a 27 year old mother of two. I suffer from acne (more now than during teenage years.) I also have VERY oily skin. (only on my face.) I have used products from the expensive such as Proactive and Beautiful Skin to the less expensive over the counter treatments. No help!! Nothing seems to be working for me. I use $Mary Kay$ conceler and foundation and $Bare Essuntiuals$ Powders. I use a face wash, toner and cream each morning before applying my make-up and also a spf 15 shine free moisturizer. An hour after applying make-up my face looks like someone has covered me with baby oil! Even on days that I am home and do not wear make-up it looks the same. I am employed at a residentual behavioral center for teens and most of these kids have clearer skin than I do. This has all happened within the past 3 or 4 years and has greatly affected my self confidence. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW I have been to a Dermatologist and he gave expensive creams that do not work.

I use Everyday Minerals makeup. It's like Bare Minerals, but A LOT less expensive and it doesn't have any of the skin irritating ingredients that Bare Minerals has (the oxy bismuth in it can cause acne for a lot of people). They have different formulas of foundation for different skin types. I use Everyday Minerals intensive foundation. I also use their silk dust. It helps control the oil and has antibacterial properties to help heal the skin and prevent breakouts. They also have a balancing powder that I sometimes use under my makeup. You can get a free sample kit of 3 foundations, 1 blush or bronzer, and 1 concealer at: http://www.everydayminerals.com/g?t=kits...
You just pay shipping (which was about $3 for me).

When I am going to be outside and in the heat a lot, I carry the Clean & Clear oil blotting sheets in my purse. They keep the makeup on and just remove the extra oil.

I also use witch hazel as a toner and then apply a very small amount of jojoba oil as a moisterizer. If you don't moisterize after washing your face, your skin will make up for it and produce extra oil. Jojoba oil is a moisterizer that is actually the closest to your skins natural oils so it is really good for your skin. Using this routine controls my oil and prevents acne. You can buy jojoba oil at a natural food store or online. I get mine from drugstore.com. A bottle lasts a very long time.

eastbay lady is very smart. I am going to school in two years to learn about all these reactions, because of how bad my oily skin used to be. Remember you are what you eat...it is best to take care of the inside to look beautiful on the out. I recommend more than 8 glasses of water a day, balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Try to consume yogurt or acidophilus lactobacillus tablets to help aid digestion and cleansing of the insides (it also helps for yeast and BV infections. You can purchase tablets at Walgreens or other drug stores). Use the 2% salicylic acid wash 2 times a day following with witch hazel as a toner (dickinson's is great, Walgreens), then a moisturizer that matifies oily skin (almay or others) Steam face at LEAST 3 times a week to fully open pores and wash your face. Aloe vera plant is heals pimples and scars (Wal-mart or Osh). I don't recommend benzoyl peroxide, it does dry up pimples, but many studies have shown it causes premature aging and bleaching of the skin. Too much lemon juice can also lighten your skin. Do use the mask ebay gave you. The yogurt kills the harmful bacteria on the skin without expensive drugs. Good luck!!

This is very difficult. First thing you're going to want to do is find something with a higher percentage of salicylic acid for the oiliest parts of your face. Many OTC creams come in 1%, you'll want to find something in around a 2-3% (look on the back of the tube/box). You're also going to want to find some higher acid toners (C&O Bigelow from Bath and Body Works is a good brand). You're going to need to refrain from touching your face.

Try a face mask 1-2 times a week made of 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1/4 a cup of Oatmeal, and 1 tablespoon of plain yougurt. Mix it, leave it on your face, and then wash it off. Another treatment is to buy a bottle of milk of magnesia (no flavour, just plain) and rub it on your face, then rinse.

You might also switch to a higher protein diet and add more leafy greens and fruits. Restrict sugar and salt, and try to stick to drinking water. Oily skin can be caused by a Vitamin B2 deficiency, so find some B2 vitamins and start taking them (B2 can also be found in wheat germ). You'll want to restrict the oils you eat (don't fry foods in oil).

Purchase an Aloe Vera plant and rub the Aloe on your face as necesary. It will dry up the oils a little bit. Purchase a lavendar natural oil and mist your face several times a day. Also rub oily areas with apple cider vinegar to neutralize the oil.

Hopefully some of this helps for you!

I also have really oily skin and haven't had much luck with products either. But I have found that Merle Norman has a powder foundation called Luxiva ultra powder foundation. It has really worked well for me. Also instead of adding more make up which in the end looks cakey, I use Clean&Clear oil sheets. You just pat them to your face and they suck off the oil on your skin. They seem to work well for me. Good Luck in finding a solution or at least a happy median.

i know im with you only im just 19. but the stuff the dermatologist didnt help at all...it just dried my face out and actually made it look really burnt. i hated it! all that happened to me when i was 16, and after i healed my face up from the creams from the dermatologist, my friend introduced me to Neutragena's Rapid Clear Oil Controling Face Cleanser. I have been using this stuff since i was 16 years old and i love it. it keeps the oil cut down on your skin and it keeps blemishes away too. I havent had a bad breakout on my face since i started using the stuff. i do have the occasional pimple here and there, but who doesnt? its definately something that i would check into if i were you. it costs about $6 at walmart.

first of all, oily pores and skin could look stressful now, yet certainly, oily pores and skin enables avert wrinkles! while your older, in case you place on sunscreen, and safeguard it and all that, you will thank the undeniable fact that your pores and skin is oily! i could certainly stay faraway from Proactiv. it rather is exceedingly harsh and could enhance the oil on your pores and skin. i could advise Origins. additionally, if there's a dermatologist by skill of you, it can be a good option to get stuff prescribed to you there, because of the fact it rather is going to be completely adapted on your pores and skin tone. If no longer, bare Minerals has some great makeup to conflict the oil on your pores and skin and stability it out. desire this enables. : )

Go back to the basics, try using plain Ivory (bar) soap when washing your face, I don't believe in all of that other stuff, toners & moisturizers, blah! Talk about expensive! Almay has an awesome concealor & pressed powder for oily skin, give it a try!

I also have very oily skin during the day, I would recommed getting oil sheets, lots of people sell them like (clean and clear) all you do is wipe themon your face during the day and it absorbs all the oil off your face with out disturving make-up. You also may want to talk to a dermatologist about it to they may help you out. heres a list of top products for acne>

I have pretty oily skin, too. It's kind of chilled out, though, because the winter weather is drying it out. I've always been told to not over cleanse my skin. When you use a lot of cleansers, it strips your skin of its natural oils. This causes the skin to create more, and therefore gets even more oily. I suggest using a cleanser at night and in the morning, and also apply some moisturizer. Trust me, even if you have oily skin, you need moisturizer.

I understand you, I myself tried over the counter products to prestige products, and when all else failed, I turned to prescribed products. Nothing worked for me until one day I was introduced to clear.now. It has been a big change for my skin. See, with proactive, (which I tried) benzoyle peroxide--to me, worked for only temporarily. When I stopped using any type of benzoyle added to any benzoyle product, it relieves temporarily. But with clear.now it has salycilic acid & Sodium chlorite... well i can go on, but after using so many junk on my face, it was time to really read the fine print... so that's what i'm all about... hope that helps... if you want to find out more, email me @ sasi_gurl_4_u@yahoo.com, i can refer you to where i get it from, hope that helps...
