First of all, garlic grows IN THE GROUND. That means there are all sorts of manure, bacteria, insects, yeasts, molds, etc. all over it. The fact that you see some white powder or fuzzy spores or something like that does not surprise me.

You could either take it back to the store if you really feel it's worth your time (Garlic is very cheap) or you could just clean it off and cook with it. The actual part you eat is covered in a skin and protected from all that stuff. If the actual clove is brown or rotting, just cut that part off an continue to cook !

Take it back to the store. If you have the receipt, they should be glad to exchange it for more garlic or give you a refund.

Its not worth getting a lawyer or calling the health department. Mold is a natural occurring process in food....the store should just refund your money..

Oh yeah - go get a lawyer for a 25c piece of garlic. It certainly is a federal case. Wipe it with vinegar and get over it. Or go get some more.

Throw it out and buy a new head.
Two days is plenty of time for mold to develop while in your possession.

No. Just throw it away. That bulb probably got wet. It should be dry. Buy your garlic someplace else where they take care of their produce better.

That tips you off about where to not shop for produce.

Cut off the bad part and use the rest. The next time that you buy it, examine it for freshness. You want tight heads that haven;t developed cracks.

check it before you buy it...i'm sure so many lawyers are wanting to jump on that compelling case of your stupidity. If it's way to expense to spring for a new clove you can do without.
