I don't mean a Muslim who isn't being a proper Muslim; I mean people who aren't Muslims. Nobody has told me this, I read it in the Islamic holy book the Quran.

if ur talkin abt gettin eternal happiness in paradise then da quran says tht
Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians -- whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor shall they grieve" (2:62, 5:69, and many other verses).

"If only they [i.e. Christians] had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course, but many of them follow a course that is evil" (5:66).

Let me clarify this question. First the whole idea is misinterpretated. Islam does however believe that being a proper muslim you achieve happiness. Islam is a complete way of life with theories that are applicable to the modern world, provided they are interpretated rightly. Islam just wants us to be closer to Allah and achieve inner peace. I have seen moderate people practising Islam. They are so happy and contended in life. They are free from hatred, arrogance and jealousy. In today's world where there is competititon, glamour and stress, Islam provides satisfaction. In other words, you learn to appreciate the simpler things of life. You feel more happy the way you are. It does not mean you are stopped from progressing. However, doing things in a more discplined manner. Let me phrase it better. Islam prohbits alchol. It is for a reason. There are Muslim who drink alchol and I know them. Throught out the time they faced drunk driving issues, beating their spouses and so on. Overdose of alcohol has medical issues, we all know that. You get addicted till you have liver problems and son on. Then take gambling. Gambling is a addict. You keep on betting and betting till you lose all your money. YOu also win but you might have noted that in casinos the probability of losing is more than winning. I have seen Muslims who gambled and gambled. Their whole house was in shamble. They ended up ignored their spouses and kids. Basicallly Islam provides you a relief from these problems. I am a Muslim myself and I do not gamble nor drink. Yet I feel so happy . I had a divorce, but was able to recover myself so well . Today I am so satisfied with my life. It is because of Islam that I have achieved satisfaction and inner peace. It makes me happy without have to connect to drinking/gambling. This is my personal experience talking. You feels so much at a happier life being with Islam

I'm happy and an atheist.

A muslim would probably claim that true happiness is only found in paradise, and you need to be a muslim to go there.

Praise be to Allah.

I'm really surprised why you posted this question, waiting for answers from human CREATURES like you.

You were reading Allah's (The Creator's) word just keep reading and you'll find your answer. And here's the answer from The Holy Qur'aan to your question and to those who says that we are not muslims and we are happier. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

"-Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam.
-Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them)."

Al-Hijr 15 : 2&3

May Allah guide you to his straight path and true religion; Islam. Ameen

no it doesnt specifically say this anywhere. If muslims are telling you that you will be happier if you convert to islam, that is different. I'm sure everyone thinks that way about their religion.
