My question is why do people enjoy it? it seems as if they are addicted to it come rain or shine. there are joggers everywhere and I hate running! it's miserable. Because I'm a Cheap Tightwad, and running outside is free!

I hated running when I started, but it's easy to get addictive. It releases endorphines to the brain and gives you a little high. Start slowly and don't overdo it. Both links below have Couch to 5K programs.

Winter running has it's own perk. Breathing the cold, crisp air is really envigorating... but I might just be in the first stages of insanity. I keep running because the results are worth it. I run 5Ks to raise money for charities, and it's a great feeling to do something good for myself and for others at the same time.

It is a miserable thing to do, and some people just like pain. The benefits are visible in the mirror. I guess it is a mental thing. Running also releases endorphins and maybe they are addicted to that high. I hate running, but I think of other things when I run. one of them being how much gyms smell of sweaty socks, and shoes, and all that general yuck. LOL

People get what's called "runners high"
when strenuous exercise takes a person over a threshold that activates endorphin production. Endorphins are released during long, continuous workouts, when the level of intensity is between moderate and high, and breathing is difficult.

I am NOT a fan of running, but before I got pregnant I ran every week. I even completed a 5K in October. I think it's the knowledge that you actually RAN that far. It's a sense of accomplishment for me.
