The best thing to do would be to call your local shelters and ask if they happened to capture a cat that fits your cats description. Most states have laws that say if a cat has no collar the animal control is free to capture them, and cats have a notorious ability to get out of their collars. Also call local vets, your cat may have been hit by a car or injured in some other way and a good samaritan brought him/her to a vet. The next thing to do if those dont yield results would be to post posters with your cats picture, name(s), identifying marks, sex, personality traits and any other info that makes him/her unique along with your name and number to call. Place them all over town, as cats(especially unneutered ones)have been known to travel great distances.
Last but not least if this doesn't work, drive around town calling the cats name and listening for replies. Honestly....sometimes they just forget to come home every once in a while. This works for me when my cat goes missing....usually he will come home in a day or so after doing this. Good luck!

Of course I don't know what you mean buy a long time but the more quickly you try to find a missing pet the better the chances that you will find it. Have you called and visited all the animal shelters in your area not just the nearest one? Cats can roam quite far. Also call animal control (dog catcher) in your area and areas near you. Put up signs on around your neighborhood, on grocery store bulletin boards, at area vets, at feed stores, anywhere you can. Put an ad in the paper. Your radio station may be ads like that too if you live in a relatively small area and they may be free. Offer a reward on your signs and in your ads. If you can offer only a little money just say reward rather than giving an amount. Praying helps too seriously. Ask all the kids in the neighborhood to watch for the cat. DO NOT ask them to go with you to help find it unless you know them and their folks and thier folks say it is OK because this is something bad ppl do sometimes to get kids to hurt and you don't want to be misunderstood or scare someone. Walk or ride around the neighborhood calling the cat. Keep checking back at shelters go there even if they don't seem to have a possible match. Keep your cat in their minds any nice way you can because cats turn up at shelters sometimes months or yrs after they were lost.
If your cat comes back or you get another one one way to help be sure that the cat does not go on an extended walk about is to have the cat spayed or neutered so they don't go off hunting a mate. A collar with tag showing your phone number and the cat's rabies vacination tag helps too but be sure it is a collar the cat can slip or pop if it gets caught so kitty doesn't get hung by it. I do not personally like colors on rural area cats who go out because there are just too many things the cat can get hung up on but there are pluses and minuses. The ultimate protection of course is keeping the cat inside and teaching it that it belongs indoors as soon as you get it. I am not faulting you because the cat went out and got gone, Our cats go out too but there is more risk that way from fights, cars etc. When I lived in a less rural place our kittes stayed in because there were just too many dangers and even where we are we have had a cat go missing. I hope your cat does come back and very soon.

We have had this problem twice... we had a cat that went away for two months and we were so scared that she was gone forever but, she came back... we had another one that went missing for about a month and a half but, she came back.... you have to think like a cat.... if they got shut in a shed or barn or garage or somthihng they have no way to get out.... use a news paper and advertise that he/she is missing and then take it from there.... never give up... you neve rknow she could be chillin in someones house and when they read the paper they say " oh wow someone lost you ... Lets take you home " so just put ads up and hope for the best and if worse comes to worse there are many other cats in the world that need homes.. though no cat will ever replace your prescious feline friend.

You didn't say how long your cat is gone, cause my cat was gone for 3 days , my kids had all their friends around the neighbourhood looking for him & he was found, that's a long time ago. I would put up some signs with his picture oround where you live, just really that no harm has come to him or her. Next time if you get a cat keep it indoors, it's saver & healthier and you'll always know where he is Hope you lot a of luck finding kitty.

Never give up... My cat was missing over 6 months and one day I opened the door and there she was... Cats are among the best survivalist... There are documented stories of cats who have been gone years and traveled thousands of miles to get home. If your cat isn't dead, which is always a possibility, keep your eyes, open for him/her ...Make sure to check your local animal shelter and vets and run a lost add in the paper (usually free) and check the lost and found daily. Good luck

it is wrong when they say your cat is dead or you should get a new one because iv had it happen to me many time, you cant give up looking put ads in the paper put posters around and go out looking for your cat in its favourite places calling its name and rattling some dry food never give up it might just be lost, cats dont normally go far away from your home she is probably just hiding somewhere and you just have to hope somebody rings you, if you get the cat back and i hope you do it might be a good idea to get your cat chipped it should cost around £25-£50 and it will be able to trace your cat if she goes missing again, good luck in trying to find her

Sometimes cats wander away when it's mating season. They probably find a girlfriend and hang around with her for a while. You might go out looking for it, call it, put out its favorite food, have neighbors and friends keep an eye out for it, and post some signs with its picture on telepone poles with its description and what name it answers to with your telephone number on it. And you might put an ad in the 'lost and found' in your local newspaper. I truly hope it comes home soon. Also- look in any spots around your house that it may have gotten stuck in. Good luck!

try looking in the local shelters, put up signs. If that fails the cats probably gone. then get a cat from the shelter. I once lost my cat Smudge for 6 yrs, it ended up that he had just gone to my neighbors house and they had kept him not knowing that he was ours. Once I saw him he came home....maybe you will be lucky

This time of the year especially with a Tom It could be out looking for other females to breed. Don't give up on it. It will probably come home looking all worn out and haggard from all that fun stuff.

You can put up fliers of course - but I have a nice ending story for you - our kitty just disappeared one morning after breakfast - and we searched for her every day and called her name - after about 3 weeks we gave up - figured she was dead (she was old) then one evening we were in the garage and she just came walking up like she had been coming home each day - she looked the same as always; had not lost weight - obviously she had been fed - she did this twice and we never knew where she went - we just assumed she was visiting her "other" family.
