So I have 12 brothers...I am the youngest but we are all only about a year apart, maybe less...my mom wanted a girl really bad and they didn't stop till they got me. If it matters I am 21. Well anywho, is there ANYWAY possbile that I can get them to like the guy I am with. They know that I have an open relationship with him - I can be with other people and so can he in a sexual way. - Well anyway this is something both me and him decided so don't tell me its stupid and blah blah blah. Anyway this guy wants to marry me and when we get married we will NO longer have an open relationship...well...I think my brothers are going to hate him forever and I really do love him. He is amazing and everything I have ever wanted but none of my brothers understand...I don't get it...why are they so protected. My Mom died about 5 years ago and since then they have been sooo crazy about every little thing I do...is there anything I can do to make them understand???

Please don't tell me they are just trying to be older brothers and all that because they have never cared...I know they have to do the big brother thing since I am the only girl.....I just want to know if there is anyway I can get them to trust me and understand that I am in love with this guy.

If you want them to trust you and your future husband, how about starting by not being so sexually promiscuous. Perhaps they've seen or heard about your ways and they don't like having the family reputation soiled.

*whistles* WOW...12 bros. I have a friend who had 12 sisters since the father kept on trying until he got a son to carry on the family name. Anyhow.....
You mentioned that they never cared in the past. Maybe they didn't care so much until your mom passed away. Now that you are the only female left in the family and that you are their lil sis, it's time they step up and become the true brothers that they are or should become.
You know how guys are....they don't mind playing the field of having an open relationship. But when it comes to someone doing it to their own sibling....OH HELL NO.....that's the mentality which they always throw in. Get used to it lil sis...as big brothers, they will become more protective of you as time passes. Even after you marry your guy, the bros will still be leary about him. Just ignore them and accept their over-protectiveness of you. It's only their way of showing their love for their lil sis. Since you have reached your adult age, maybe they will let some slack out and be less protective. But as history dictates, lil sis will always be under the unbrella of big brother(s).
Hope all works out with your man entering the family. He will be under heavy scrutiny for a while. =)

If you really love this guy it shouldn't matter what your brothers think and you should marry him. They should understand that. But if you are uncertain about marrying this man then prehaps you should talk to your brothers. Find out exactly what it is that they don't like about him. Then you can either correct any uncorrect impressions or at least know where your brothers doubt is coming from... Best of Luck to you.

girl you gotta lay the cards on the table. invite your brothers over for a family meeting. (this might sound silly but oh well) get something a stick or anything and only you can talk when you hold this tell them how you feel about him and that they should get to know him better then maybe next week invite him over for dinner -with your brothers- and cook for everybody get em talking playing maybe a card game or something and pray they bond. hope things turn out ok

Tell your brothers to back off. They are only looking out for what is best for you, but if you are 21 its time for them to let you make the big choices in life. Tell them you are a big girl now.

If you had one or two brothers it would be easier, but I hate to tell you that you will always be their little sister and they will probably never think of you as grown up and able to take care of yourself. Do what you feel is best for you and they will have to accept it. It won't be easy, but some of them may come around. It could be worse.. you could be the youngest of 13 girls.... ARGGG

I wont tell you that they are trying to be big brothers cause your a big girl and you should be able to take care of your self so what I would do is tell them that your in love with him and they really can't stop you from marring him and they just have to trust you and try to be noce to him thats all I can tall you

You're 12 brothers know how guys operate. They are just trying to protect you. At any rate, there is probably no way that you can get them to understand. Not a big problem, they'll eventually get over it.

I come from something around your case..i spend most of my time trying to make my guy happy and my parents happy who arent on the same level....just make youself happy or your going to be running around in circles..I know you want there word and everything but they will come around if they care..its your life not theres..i know i am putting this in a easier than said way but talk to them if they dont get it or dont want it to happen then let them worry about it..he will eventually be expected ..as for now make yourself happy..goodluck

Your their only sister, and they only want the best for their darling sister. If they think the guy is no good, then of course they will freak out and say they dont like him. If they did, you may begin to hate him...
I don't really know what else to tell you, I'm only 17. :D
