What they claim to have found were four boxes in a larger graveyard that have the names "Joseph", "Jesus", "Mary" and "Judah the son of Jesus".

Note that Jesus was one of the most common names in NT Israel, with three other "Jesus" being mentioned in the NT. Mary was also very common, with five "Mary" besides Mary Magalene in the NT.

Judah (or Jude or Judas) was THE most common name of that era. Four of Jesus' inner 12 disciples, and one of his brothers had that name. Plus others in the NT.

According to the documentary by James Cameron, the odds of finding those four names together like that are "100 to 1".

This box labeled "Jesus" is the now the 71st bone box find in the last 100 years that bears the name "Jesus". If Cameron is correct, that odds of find a "Jesus" buried with a "Joseph", "Mary" and "Judah" are 100 to 1, then finding just such a combination on the 71st find is about right for it to be random chance.

But there are a couple bigger issues. First, if this Joseph is the father of Jesus, what is he doing buried in Jerusalem? He died in the country of Judea, hundreds of miles away, before Jesus ever travelled to Jerusalem or became famous. He would not be buried there.

If this "Judah" is the son of the Bible Jesus, please explain to me why he (or Mary - as the common theory is that the child was born after Jesus' death) named the child after the man who betrayed and murdered him? Duh!!

Note that all three of the archeologist who originally made this discovery say that there is NO connection between this Jesus and the Bible Jesus. Amos Kopler, the leader of the group, as denounced it as inaccurate, and only "out of money".

The claims were discredited in 1980 when the bodies first appeared. They were further discredited in 1996, when DNA testing shown no family link between "Mary" and "Judah". It has not been possible to prove or disprove a family link between the male bones.

Definitely not. Jesus died, yes and he had a tomb. But he was resurrected on the third day so there are no bones to be found!

The authorities would have been only too happy to point out the tomb and correct the disciples error when they began to proclaim that Jesus had risen from the dead. Obviously the disciples had no motive to steal the body and then die for a lie, and certainly the Jewish authorities wouldn't have removed the body.

Here are only a few of the peple who saw Jesus after his resurrection:
*Mary Magdalene in John 20:10-18
*the other women in Matthew 28:8-10
*Cleopas and another disciple in Luke 24:13-32
*To 11 disciples and others in Luke 24:33-49
*To 10 apostles and others (Thomas absent) in John 20:19-23
*To Thomas and other apostles in John 20:26-30
*To seven apostles in John 21:1-14
*The Apostles before his Ascension in Luke 24 and Acts 1.
*To more than 500 people in 1 Corinthians 15:5-8.

Whoever or whatever or wherever you've gotten such blasphemous lies, they are indeed from the pits of Hades! The Christ arose! End of story . . . This FACT of the resurrection is the bottom line basis for the Christian faith!
There will not or can there ever be found any 'bones' of Jesus. They might some day discover the bones of Mary or Joseph or one of Jesus step brothers and sisters, but never the bones of the resurrected King of Kings and Lord of Lords! PTL!!!

No his bones have not been found by James Cameron or anyone else...

This was a very common name, as was Mary, as was Joseph the son.

To give an example, this would be like unearthing a family grave of "John, Mary, and Joe, their son". There is no other credible evidence that this has anything to do with Jesus of Nazareth. This isn't news, it isn't history, it is yet another lousy publicity stunt, and James Cameron ought to know better than that...

I guess since he has hasn't made a good movie in a while he is bored... This what happens when a Hollywood type thinks they understand history, archaeology and theology... Grow up, James

Can't be true. Jesus rose and left no bones behind.
Besides he was not buried in a box or casket. He was
layed in a cave and a huge stone rolled in front of the
entrance to seal it. Some folk will say or do anything
to try to make the truth of Christianity as false.

No, the names on the tombs are very common, about 48% of those living back then had those names, it is just another attempt by secular producers to discredit Christianity, do you not find it a coincidence that in the past year all this stuff is coming out trying to destroy the faith, Like the DaVinchi code, (so I didn't spell it right) and the Judas scrolls and stuff, I do not believe it is a coincidence, I believe it is a deliberate attempt to destroy the faith to silence Christianity because they do not want our influence into their politics, well...it ain't going to work.

Could be. He has a pretty decent case, but I think the jury is still out. At least he has better sourcing than the Bible. The show is on Discovery 9EST on Sunday.

Of course not. Its stupid, but of course people will believe it, like they do every other idiotic thing that comes down the pike.
The names Mary and Jesus, even Joseph were so common its like saying something marked "smith" has to belong to one specific person.

James Cameron, and some archeologist have found bones of what could be Jesus..and Mary of Magdelin, and Jesus's two brothers and his son. (yeah Jesus and Mary were getting it on, and they had a son....get over it.)

Im waiting to see the reaction in the whole religious world, if this is actually Jesus..because then it would prove that he never resurected...Should be interesting.

It has not been confirmed, but the tomb carries marks and inscriptions that indicate the family of Jesus are buried there.
