i have a nice wedding dress embroidered with beads & pearls, very pretty, and also a set of rings (man's, petit engagement, and wedding band, all with small diamonds in the band) but the women's wedding band was cut off my finger by the paramedics. i want to sell them all, as i have been divorced, but not sure what the best course of action would be. i'm sure i should get the dress cleaned (but it's not stained or anything), but should i get the ring repaired or sell 'as is'? and where would be the best place to sell them each?

Well defiantly get the ring fixed or take it to a jeweler and see if they will buy both of them...sometimes they will buy it as is., you'd just have to ask them. For the dress they have consignment shops. EBay is nice and all, but you can't try it on, with consignment shops the lady interested can try it on, with a consignment shop they put it on sale for you.

Unfortunately, wedding dresses are the worst selling consignment item around. I would suggest ebay instead of a consignment shop but don't get your hopes up about how much you'll get...you probably won't even recoup a 1/4 of the cost. There are also online sites that can do it for you...

As far as the ring, I would take it to a jewler and have the gold/platinum melted down and the diamond removed and all made into something else. You could even turn the diamond into a necklace or something and sell that or keep it.....diamonds are a great investment even if actual engagemnt ring is painful to look at. Turn it into something pretty! I definitely wouldn't sell the ring on ebay though, there are people who buy and sell diamonds called estate buyers. Your jewler could help you with that. Good luck!

Is it a designer dress? If it is then use a consignment shop. EBAY is also good but give photos and the correct sizes of the bands. If I were you, I would get the ring repaired. If all else fails and you don't need the money, donate it. Not all brides are able to get the dress of their dreams and sometimes they do not get a dress at all.

I would not have the dress dry cleaned before shipping it out if you choose to sell your dress on eBay, because it will just get wrinkled and the buyer will have to have it cleaned or at least pressed again. Be sure you note this in your auction description, however. Make sure you take pictures of any stains or dirt (along hem, under train, etc) and let buyer know of these before selling, too.

Ebay is the best way to go unless you know of a place that buys used wedding dresses. I know that there are some jewelers that buy jewelry.
