Seriously - i don't know what's wrong with these people. Arachnophobia is really common so don't feel like there's something wrong with you. But if you really want to get over it you can try to
learn about them. Study them. Your fear will go away when you discover what they really are like, which are actually dangerous (there aren't many at all) and how they live

The best therapy for this phobia is systematic disensitization. I recommend you find a psychiatrist with experience treating anxiety disorders. Before disensitizing yourself from spiders, you may need to take some medication. Disensitization literally means to lose your sensitivity to spiders; that is, your sensitive feeling of fear. The process is systematic because you are exposed to the feared object/situation gradually. You approach your fear in a tolerable fashion, in small increments such that before getting to the point of having a spider crawl on your hand, you need to feel comfortable entering a space where there is a spider web.

This is a type of behavioral therapy. It is very old and very well researched. Call your health provider for advice on how to get the treatment.

Good luck!

If it's bad enough, you can see a shrink about it. If it's just bothersome, you can try exposing yourself to spiders more and more. Visit a pet store that carries them and try to stand in front of the cage for 30 seconds. You don't even have to look at it. The next week, do a minute. The week after that, look at it while you stand there, and so on. When you're on the Internet, search for spiders on wikipedia and read about them. Look at the pictures. When you are brave enough, use one as a screen saver.

You may be able to desensitize yourself to them over a period of time.

Don't feel bad a lot of people are freaked out by spiders. You have to look at it this way you are bigger than the little spider and its probably more afraid of you than you are of it.

The teasing must get old so I can see why you want to get over your arachnophobia.

If your school has a guidance counselor, ask him/her privately about resources for therapy and how to explain the situation to your parents.

Or you can go to your parents directly and they can help you find a counselor. (ex. through your doctor, a church/social services group, your parents' health insurer)

A professional counselor will help you get over your fear. One process is called desensitization.

You should "try to ignore them"..don't make to much fuss ..call them little children..and for them to grow up..They will soon give up as in front of their friends they don't like being called a little child..I am 64 and absolutely petrified of balloons ..I know it sounds funny but it isn't funny ..I had an elder brother who used to take great delight in exploding balloons near me ..I find it hard to walk pass children with balloons..you might never get rid of your fear but it does ease over time..hope this helps..

Don't feel bad. When they tease you just laugh it off. Hey, I'm a 46 year old Arachnophobic.
