I have really long curly thick hair so I know how you feel! What I find works best is using volume Shampoo/Conditioner doesn't really matter what kind.Leave the conditioner in for at least 3 mins. Then when I style my hair I use Aussie's volume hair products price ranges from 3-4 dolors.First apply the Aussie moose evenly throughout your hair. Then use Aussie's aero volume hairspray as much as you feel you need.Flip your hair over and blow dry it...half way through spray lightly with the volume hairspray again.Finish drying your hair and when its completely dry Finish it off with a light all over spray of Aussie Instant freeze hairspray.Youll be amazed at how natural and great your hair looks when your all done!

For a quick fix:
- regular washing
- volumising shampoo/conditioner (nicky clarke does a good one)
- blowdry upside down (the sooner you blowdry after washing the mroe volume you tend to get)
- rollers on top
Long-term fix:
- lots of layers

Layers always give an extra boost. With thick hair really one of your only options are making it shorter and giving it layers. For a bit of boost at home:
Try blowdrying hair upside down

i would use a water based gel because its light weight, storng, and wont plaster you hair in one place its easy to move but it keeps the volume for a long period of time

I use moose. I also have long, thick hair, so I feel your pain. Using moose AND blowdrying your hair really helps.
