i need help with this quote...what does this mean and is there an examples do you have

This is an excerpt from Ill Nature by Joy Williams - i believe that Joy is referring to a belief that Realtors will try and convince you that the thing you are looking at is not what it seems to be....
that will try and sell you the dirty shirt from the garbage saying that the shirt is not dirty its just a new fashion statement and ids definitely something you want to have.

If Dante returned to Hell today, he'd probably be escorted down by a Realtor talking all the while about how it was just another level of Paradise.

Dante looking at Hell would think wait this is Hell but the Realtor someone you trust would put another spin on the situation saying that no its not hell its paradise...just another flavor of paradise...

Dante's Divine Comedy described 9 (or so) levels of hell progressing from bad to worse. The guy who said this quote must not like realtors for some reason.

It's saying that Realtors are shady and try to sell you a "money pit" by making it look wonderful.
