A prune is a dried plum.

Plums are sold in the produce section of a grocery store and prunes are in boxes, bags or jars in the section of the store that sells other dried fruit like raisins or apricots.

Prunes are dark purple-ish black and really quite good even though people joke they are for old people.

A prune is a dried plum. Kind of like a date is a dried fig or a raisin is a dried grape. Just that there is a different name for the dried variety of these fruits. =)

A prune is a dried plum. A fresh plum is found in the fruit section of the grocery store where the regular apples, peaches, etc. are. Prunes can be found in the dried fruit section, they are usually sold in a container like raisins.

Yes. It is a special type of plum called a prune plum. It is difficult to distinguish by appearance, however it does not have the sweet taste of a regular plum like a Santa Rosa Plum. There is an old adage, "All prunes are plums, but all plums are not prunes."
