AUTO RIFLE GRADES I - VI
- .22 LR or .22 short (disc.) cal., takedown design, 10 shot (16 for .22 short) tube mag. in buttstock, 19 1/4 in. barrel for all .22 LR, .22 shorts had various barrel lengths according to mfg. year: 19 1/4 in. for 1956, 22 3/8 in. for 1957, and 22 in. from 1958 until general production was disc. in 1983, checkered pistol grip stock, semi-beavertail forearm, stock has hole machined halfway to allow partial filling of tube mag., adj. folding rear or earlier wheel sight, Grades differ in finish, amount of engraving, and grade of wood, 4 3/4-5 3/4 lbs. Early top loaders were mfg. from 1914 until approx. 1955. Modern loader mfg. 1956 to 1974 by FN Belgium. Mfg. beginning 1976 by Miroku in Japan.

bferg will get this one a lot better than me but NIB grade 1 suggested retail is 557.00 grade VI is about 989.00 your gun if that s/n is right was made probably in 1965 one of about 12 thousand that year depends on grade and condition...grade 1 in good condition could bring 1500 bucks to the right buyer. I have one so that is what mine runs

I bought one a couple of years ago and paid $145.00 for it. I have seen the new Chinese clones for $300.00. I also understand that there is a Japanese version of this rifle.

Mine is plain-Jane. Some of those Belgium Browning .22s were engraved and that will increase the value.
