Is there a way to "restore" in OSX like you can in XP?

there are a few different ways to help OSX keep on keepin on.

Utilities > Disk Utility > First Aid > Repair Permissions
Utilities > Disk Utility > Restore
Utilities > Software Restore

all else fails Reload OSX via disc (backup your stuff, cause its gone)
