As an officer with over 30+ years it's so refreshing to see the positive comments made here!
THANK YOU!
There is no question in my mind that every walk of life has its' good and bad apples...law enforcement included. However, I've always made it my own priority to maintain the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and professionalism as most of my profession do!
We, sadly, only hear the bad stories which are far and few compared to those stories where officers put themselves between the citizen and the threat!
I've watched too many times where officers from my local area as well as my own department have died in the line of duty. This was done in their effort to provide for a better and safer community from where they served!
Most of the "anti-cop" comments are from those who hear stories from "someone who knows someone who heard about..." and this is just absurd to listen to in the first place. In a courtroom..it's call "hearsay."
One person on this particular forum as indicated he had a problem with law enforcement. It's sad that he stereotypes ALL officers based upon his own statement that he had a problem with "one of the officers." Again...don't judge ALL by ones actions! Additionally, the "blogger" states the officer searched his vehicle...that doesn't provide the officers side of the event. If the officer conducted himself improperly...then file a complaint and seek justice! If you have circumstances, such as this "blogger" who had several run-ins based upon his ethnic background...then that IS a problem...complain! But consider where you complain if it's several officers involved. Sounds to me like somebody in charge is out of control! Don't blame good officers for doing their job and state that law enforcement represent only the "rich white people" because that statement is absurd!
As an officer, I've always enjoyed conversation with the public and am appreciative of their support!
None the less....thank you very much for the kind wisdom and "open door" you've provided!
Best wishes!

Well there is the problem, I don't think they are doing a good job.
About a year ago I had a serious problem with my local police department. I never once had a problem with the law. Then one of the officers decided my car was too nice for the Mexican illegal (despite the fact I'm an American by birth to parents who also were born American), and that is when the problems began.
I was stopped thirteen times in two months, and yet I only got two tickets (which weren't even things I did, how in the world can you be speeding 20 past the speed limit of 45 when you haven't even had two seconds to go from the stop light you were just stopped at). My car was searched four times for drugs. I gave permission for the first one despite the fact I've never even seen a drug in my life (including marijuana). I gave permission for the second one too just to show them for sure I didn't fake or hide anything the first time.
I said no the third time but they searched anyway, I let that one go. Finally when I said no the fourth time and they searched again (and not once on any of them did they find anything, because I never had anything), I went to the Lieutenant of the Precinct. It only took three months to get the three who were doing this suspended with pay. And another five months before one was fired and the other two were allowed back onto the force. Thank God for cop justice.
Never once had I ever said or done anything to them. In fact, on more than one occasion I had defended the police as the protectors of society. Sure they made mistakes, they were human. But after having my car searched for no reason other than I had a skin tone similar to a few immigrants here only to try to survive, I saw the truth. They aren't here to protect society. They are here to protect the rich white people (not even all white people, just the ones with money and definitely no other race no matter how much money they have). They are the true scum of society, they are the ones we need to be protected from, not by.

I try to make it a point to do that but some cops have attitudes I've seen people smile and wave or say hello and the cop just gives them a dirty look...I've personally never had that problem but I've seen it happen enough times to where if I was that person I'd be skeptical about saying anything or being nice to an officer

I have always been the guy (at parties ect.) to talk to law officials. In my experience it has helped tremendously to treat the officers with respect, also an innocent smile never hurt. If you are honest and respectful, I believe the officer will extend the same courtesy.

What's more, if you get friendly with cops then their slightly more likely to help you out in some situations. Don't assume though that telling a cop you like his haircut once will get you amnesty but I've been helped before with parking tickets.
It's their jobs, it sucks when everyone says they hate you and treat you like sh*t for doing your job but are so quick to call you when they need help.

Yeah...I go along with that. There are good and bad in all fields of work. I think police officers are very brave and they have a rough time of it...I couldn't do it!

I agree with the statements posed by the asker.
On the other hand, I doubt Gradjasan's story is truthful.

why should I trust them? they always assume you are guilty of something even if your not. most of the police officers I have had contact with all think they are better than every other citizen, and that every citizen is guilty until proven innocent.
