On 2/23/07 the USDOT made the annocument that 100 Mexcian trucking co.'s and 100 american trucking co.'s would begin a pilot program to let them haul freight into and out of each others countries. Know we do have program like this set up already which falls under the free trade zone. The free trade zone is 20 to 25 miles over each others border which is the limit of which each others trucks can travel into and and out of each others countries. This is going to make bad sitiuition even worse with the quality of Mexcian truck drivers being in this country and not knowing the habit s of american drivers. Not being able to read american traffic signs. This must be the most insane pilot progran I have ever heard of. Your comments on this???

I live 5 miles from the Tijuana border, in San Diego. Let me assure you all here and now, the US government has never and will never do anything logical for the people. What government will do is put financial gain above the security of "regular" people. Chula Vista, a southern suburb of San Diego, since my childhood, has only become increasingly populated by mexicans to the point now that the neighborhoods look like a mexican town. Grafitti everywhere and trash. Now I admit, there are now, more than ever, more "white trash" as well, but come on....I used to go with my grandmother, to Kmart there and let me tell you, the mexicans who shop there, the majority anyways, have no respect for others. I used to watch and follow them around the store, watching them pick up articles only to put them back down on the shelves, NEVER in the proper place. Most of their kids are allowed to just run all over and act like they were in a zoo. What I'm trying to say is that the mexicans have no respect for other people, since they have to sneak across a virtual border to try and retake the land that was stolen from then a couple hundred years ago. I don't care where you come from, just that you treat others with the respect you would give to your momma.
It's the money, not the security, that our elected monkeys are concerned with. Ever heard of the Bilderburgs? Or the One world government? The people of America are so close to losing total control of their own government, too busy with their own lives and problems, still blindly trusting elected officials who mostly just want to line their own pockets with the blood, sweat and tears "of the people"..... Learn to swim, learn to pray.....

It is out and out insanity. I'm sure that's probably on the "virtural fence" part. lol As if that would ever work anyway. It is going to be a free ride for them. They only check something like 10% of our own trucks and I'm sure the majority of these will fly right through as well. I saw a clip on you-tube of Mexican truckers comming to the check point at the border now and it goes as far as the eyes can see. Winding around hills and everything. Now add 100 trucking companies comming inland to the mix? They can stuff homeland secutiry and all the rest....they could care less about the American citizens their security, safety and welfare. And for those that think America will remain "better"......dream on. Get ready for the 3rd world corruption, drugs and all the rest it brings. Get ready for your on-line shopping because I'm with davezatho on what happens in the stores.....it's enough to make you sick. Dirty diapers stuck in stacks of sweaters. Stuck behind the shampoo, inside your comfoter set....Velvet dresses used as diaperwipes. You will probably never open another toy in the toy department that hasn't been re-packed 100 x's because parents haven't gotten it through their heads that the toy department is not the day care center for their children while they shop. Do not buy ANYTHING that has the seal broken because it's been used or munched on and put back when they were done. Everything from nail polish to lipstick. I can't tell you how much money my store lost because of things like that. Sheer disrespect and an attitude that they can do what they want with no regard for anyone else.
Good luck on inspecting those trucks as well. I'm sure they'll be screaming racism after a few are found full of illegals and drugs. It is the dumbest thing this country has ever done.......

They will build part of the fence to convince the citizens that they are doing something about illegal immigration. They are letting the trucks in to help businesses make even more money. We have to understand that America has been sold out by both Dems and Republicans. The Government, both parties, does not care about its citizens any longer.

That is going too far. If I ever see a rig on the freeway with a MEXICO license plate I plan to cut them off and slow to 15 MPH. Hopefully while the rig is going up hill.
BTW - Are they going to smog check these things? Global warming and all that tripe.

maybe the govt of all 3 country's is trying to find a easy way of getting goods to Canada and Mexico. America sits in the middle of both country's. i think it's a bad idea myself.
