Even those who do not know the Scriptures are without excuse because, all around them, they can see ample evidence of the eternal power and deity of God. This should cause them to seek God. Israel was told that even in captivity they could find God if they diligently sought Him: "But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul" (Deuteronomy 4:29). God has promised: "I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me" (Proverbs 8:17). "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). Jesus said: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7,8).

Ignorance is no excuse. The evidence of God's existence is overwhelming, and God has promised that those who truly seek Him will find

The evidence of SIN is cancer, AIDS, hunger, pain, war, famine, death and destruction, not God...

They do explore the truth. They have come to different conclusions than yourself. They have that right.

When I was a little girl in Florida, I thought the authors of childrens' books about the seasons were lying, because I never saw snow. It took a long time to convince me that snow was a real thing for other people, and even when I did finally experience it for myself (at age 20), it wasn't what I imagined. None of this was my fault; it was simply a matter of circumstance.

I still have yet to experience deserts, tundra, and rain forests. I can't fault people who do know about them for coming to different conclusions about the world than I have.

What I'm saying is, circumstances and personalities are so very different. What's so overwhelmingly obvious to you, isn't to everyone else. And your attitude is not going to make it any more obvious.

Oh the love that goes on here...and the kindness...Andy....let us know when you have been doing your buddhism long enough to get to the point where you quit spreading hate please. I am a Christian Zen Buddhists and I know that the things you say to people here do not represent Buddhism.

Is the Bible proof God exists...NO...and yes I am a Christian. The Bible is the Word of God written by other men, some commissoned sometime after the death of Jesus by what was to become the Catholic Church (it is not exactly the SAME as the Catholic church of today). We do not know...we have no emperical, independent evidence that this part of the Bible or the church doctrine (such as the trinity) that was decided is based on real documented evidence, or thought, or opinion or inspiration.

It is likely that a great deal of the Old Testament is symbolic or representational...what the Atheists like to call a Myth...because they have no clue that we are ALL just myths...they seem to think some scientific authority has lived millions of years that can provide emperical proof of every thing and every one and every theory, all dogma and belief...and they call us nuts.

But...Atheists...do not tell us the Bible is not proof of God and then turn around and say you do not believe in God because of the Bible because I am sorry...you can not use that for proof of why you do not believe either...and you look like fools.

Christians...you are NOT to worship the Bible. You may have your opinion and thoughts on it...your church may tell you which one is the only right one and that every word is true. You are free to believe that...please recognize that many very, very, devote and scholarly Christians DO NOT.

You are to worship GOD. You are to love God...and all these awful untrue Christians and atheists and everyone else here. Hitting them with a plank of scripture is NOT about to convince them to think like you do. Get real.

The evidence of God's (a God, Allah, a Goddess, etc.) existence is overwhelming to US...to Christians, Jews and Muslims and some Buddhists and Hindi's...but its not to the atheists...you have to accept this...and that throwing the Bible at them is not going to change how they feel.

Atheists...stop asking dang it. We believe by FAITH...that much we have in common. If you cannot grasp the word FAITH, then you have none in yourself or in what YOU believe that also has no absolute proof (that God does not exist).

This is an extremely insulting question, considering your additional comments. So you are that type of person who has a child dying of cancer and say to them that their child is dying of cancer because of sin. The child can be born with cancer, but you believe that is the case, as you have stated. In addition, the person who is trying to find a cure to AIDS pricks their finger with a needle or a paramedic who unfortunately gets blood from a patient into their system and contracts AIDS, that is because even though they are wanting to help their fellow human, they are huge sinners. You know what I see, it is not them who sin or go against some God (if indeed there is one), but is it self-righteous, mentally stunted, horrible human beings like you. You are the reason why so many countries have gun laws, or else you would be a hunted species. You are terrible and I can not believe that you would say you are religious or follow Christ's teachings. I do not believe in a God or Christ, but I do respect whoever wrote to love your fellow human and treat others like you want to be treated. Obviously you missed that. You are a waste of skin and time and probably should be the poster child for birth control. I hope that you can sense my anger with you, because the little amount that it is portrayed on this answer, multiply that by 1 million times and that is how much I hate (yes hate) you and people like you. Most Christians I have no problem with, and in fact like to discuss with them, but people like you should all be taken out and shot and your whole families and friends shot in order to ensure whatever disease you are does not spread.

I shall attempt one last time to allay any speculation about Atheists. It is not that we don't believe in God. It is that we don't believe in your God. God is and always has been an abstract and even the most faithful must understand that just because the words were written does not me with absolute certainty they are correct in all respects. Even the best textbooks of any time cannot be taken at face value, because of the changes in event, practices and procedures over time. Now I am being asked to believe that this one book is the absolute exception to that tenant. Sorry folks, I've got this weird thing I like to do...it's called thinking, and making up my own mind. Your dogma is not God, nor do all those words within the bible make God real. It is the person who makes God real, not the God that makes the person real. All of you victims of the Christian brainwashing who want to think that God is the greatest and the only salvation, and any of a myriad of other idioms can think what you like.. but please leave me and other Atheist out of it, we don't want conversion, we don't need your interpretation, and we certainly can live without your sanctimony.

If someone with a bad attitude, a lousy vocabulary, a self-riteous streak so long not even a prophet could see an end to it, walked up to you with a stepped-on, torn, smelly piece of cardboard with some barely legible words written on it, saying "This is the truth and you need to read it", and then shoved that same smelly cardboard into your face, would you be inclined to listen to them?

No one seeks the truth in someone who poorly represents themselves.

A couple of points if I may:

First, of course, is your spelling. Atheist. Not Athiest. You see the word has its roots in the Greek word "theos," meaning god. This found its way into the Latin "deus." . I notice that you spelled "deity" correctly, so now that you know the etymology, you may have less difficulty with "atheist."

As to your "search for the Truth" comment: I suspect you mean by "search for the Truth," "believe what I believe."

You seem to believe that you know the Truth. What you know is perhaps a very small portion of the truth wrapped in a great deal of superstition and time-crusted tradition.

The evidence of God's existence is not conclusive or verifiable. God may indeed seem very real to you, but that does not translate into real for everyone.

You assume that people who don't believe as you do are ignorant. Can you offer any real evidence of that? No, you can't.

I myself have studied the New Testament in Greek, read the entire Bible in Latin and several English versions, studied the history of Christianity and Theology as well as Biblical Archaeology.

I have, of course, a great deal to learn, but I think it would be inaccurate to say that I am ignorant.

On the contrary, there is no overwhelming evidence and the more we expand our knowledge there is even less. We could rehash that basically everything in the Bible upto sometime after Isreal is fully settled has no evidence for it what so ever. Combinde that with no evidence of significant events from Christ's lifetime, i.e. no recording except in the NT of any astonomical event that could be considered as the star of bethelham; no 3 hour darkness recorded; no 1st century historians mentioning Christ or other NT events. All of the writers that Christians use for proof are 2nd century or later.

The evidence is simply not there.

Um, there are plenty of educated PhD's & theologians who've read the Bible several times and know other languages (like Greek, and Hebrew). They definitely searched for 'the Truth' and they found that the version of the Bible we have today is not accurate.
But, in times of despair, I find comfort in the duality of nature, not in a character who's supposed to be a single, male creator deity. Please.

Excuse me...but I was raised Southern Baptist...I HAVE searched endlessly for the truth...worked very hard at trying to be a good christian and prayed daily...I never once felt the spirit of "god" or anything else. And there is absolutely NO evidence whatsoever that a "god" made all of this. It is you who are being ignorant and believing a bunch of garbage from a 2000+ year old book. So get over your condescending self...you're in for a big surprise.

Please show me one bit of measurable, repeatable evidence that could only indicate your god. Or even show me some that would indicate any god in general.

Then and only then is there something to even talk about. As long as there is no real evidence, the truth will remain that there is no god.
