Thanks everyone for the replies, I really liked them all I was just feeling guilty because I had one of those large cookies from subway, but I do work out and eat right most of the time. I'll keep in mind portion control is fine and what I choose as a dessert is very important not to over load, small indulgences every now in then are OK. Thanks!

You can have dessert every night if you want. It all depends on "what" you are eating. How many calories, how much fat, sugar etc.

If you say had fat free jello pudding with some strawberries and little dollop of fat free cool - whip every night you would be just fine with your diet plan. But if you have a huge slice of double chocolate cake with a massive serving of ice cream and hot fudge sauce on the side... well that's not going to help you do anything!

It's all about moderation. You have to let yourself slide every once in while other wise you will go crazy. But on those days have salad for lunch and dinner and treat yourself to a grand dessert. Or curb your sweet tooth with an allowance of your daily intake set to sweet stuff. For example if you're on a 1500 cal a day diet, and you still need something yummy. Have 150 cals set a side to that, and figure out what you can have to fit that in.

Best of luck with the diet!

Just pick a day to have it, most people choose Sunday. Sit back, relax and REALLY enjoy one normal size serving of the dessert you want. Most people who follow a diet or eat in moderation all week will tell you that you have to do this if you don't want to blow the whole thing. You can't go forever without at least one treat a week. That's too insane. That's why most diets fail because people don't allow themself ANY treats. Just make sure you stick to only that day and one portion and you'll do fine. Good luck!

I've also heard many fit celebrities saying that they choose Sunday to eat whatever they want to in moderation and stick to healthy eating all week.

Every week, I eat one meal quite big (1500 but less than 2000), and I'm doing just fine with my diet. So, why couldn't you eat a desert once a week? It just shouldn't be 1500 calories because you can't eat anything for the whole day.

You can eat a desert everyday for 300 calories for goodness sakes. It just has to be 300. It can't be much bigger. A ice cream cone at Mcdonald's is supposedly 150 calories. Is that horrible? No Way!!!

on the south beach diet they have dessert everyday! (ricotta creme--which is also good cooked!) i HAVE to have something healthy planned for dessert or i'll totally pig out on chocolate every few days. it does help prevent you from feeling deprived, so usually helps keep you on the diet longer. just be sure to chose healthy desserts still, and practice portion control!!! that's the most important. (one or two bites of your favorite dessert won't destroy all you do all week! even if it's not lo-cal at all)
