PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO PRAY! I HAVE ALREADY PRAYED LONG AND HARD AND I AM STILL SO CONFUSED
I have recently started turning my life over to God, but I don't know how to give everything to him. How do I know what He wants from me? How do I know what He is calling me to do? Everyone says I will be happy once I really begin to do what I am being called to do, but I don't know what that is, much less how to do it. I feel called to do things, but they just dont make sense. For instance, I feel this great urge to move to Alpharetta Georgia, and pursue working with the Passion Ministries Group, but that would mean quitting my current job, moving my children away from their fathers, and me moving away from my own family. So how can that be the right thing to do?

You are asking allot of very good questions!

First, God is moving you. He has always been moving you and he will keep on moving you until....OK. He wake you up or He can make you sleep. God is in control.

Second, we (by free will) choose to do the wrong things because we think that we are so "smart" or just don't know better. We fall short of His glory but He keeps moving us because He love us.

Third, you give your everything by doing the right thing all the time. He knows your heart. Do everything with a love for Him. Put Him first.

Everyday He put you in "new situations" and expect you to do the right thing (like should you go to Alpharetta?) Everyday he call you to do the right thing. Don't be confused, put God first, search your heart, do the right thing and you will be happy with you decision. (:

That all, I will say no more, long answers can get confusing. Hope this help you, God bless.

DON'T BE STUPID!! You are obviously going through a confusing, difficult time in your life... but "turning your whole life over to God", is not the answer. Believe me... I've been there.

I won't pretend to tell you I know what's going on inside your head, but I know what was going through mine. You get told the same dogma over and over by religious zealots. They finally convince you that if you just give all you have to the Lord, your life will suddenly be sublime, and you will have all you desire on earth.

I don't know a thing about the Passion Ministries Group. My "benefactors" were at the Florida Bible College in Hollywood, Florida. For a time I was brainwashed and lost all that I had. Finally, I woke up and realized what a sucker I'd been.

My advice is to step back, take a long hard look at what you're being told and ask yourself if this is how Jesus would do it. Too many "Christians" practice their religion, but not Christianity. A true Christian actively, daily, performs those things Jesus taught and practiced. Things like, Love thine enemy, Bless those that curse you, give all that you have to heal the sick. Live as Jesus lived, with nothing but the robe on His back and the sandels on His feet.

AND as far as I know, there have been only three people who did this: Jesus... Saint Francis of Assisi... and Mother Teresa.

Everything else, all the churches, cathedrals, Holy robes and costumes, all the money contributed, is worthless, meaningless, window dressing. Oh, the people who derive benefit from this, the ones with the fancy cars and houses, the crystal cathedrals and the glib tongues would of course disagree.

Live the best life you can. Do all that you can to follow the teachings of Jesus. And God will see your efforts and your reward will be there in Heaven.

You don't have to give yourself to God. Just be a good person, help others to the best of your ability and resources... but don't abandon yourself to God. God doesn't want that.. believe me.

AND Oh By The Way... I live in Roswell, Georgia... just a few miles from Alpharetta... It's a great place to live... but don't quit your job, and disrupt your family... It would NOT be the right or best thing to do.

wow... ok. i am a christian myself... and what it means to give your life over to God is reading his work (the bible), and trying to apply it to your daily life. We all make mistakes and we all don't live according to what God rules are. We do fail but that's why God died on the cross for our sins so we could be forgiven. But at the same time we can't keep doing wrong and say "well God forgives so i can keep doing the same thing" No, if we don't help ourselves then God won't help us.Have you prayed and asked God if moving to Georgia will be a good thing for you... And if you keep getting that urge then maybe God is telling you to ... move. If you have any doubts then don't God protects his children. Ask God to come into your heart and give you wisdom then he will.
All God wants from you is time...and to obey his commands... time meaning going to church, or giving him an amount of time throughout the day to talk to him. praying is having a conversation with God. its like your talking to your friend or your mom and dad. he is all of those in one.... let me know if you have anymore questions... you can also email me:racheld19@yahoo.com i check my email like crazy throughout the day...

hope this helps..
God Bless!

Running away and joining a ministry is NOT the answer. Trust me. My ex-wife has been trying to take my son away to join a ministry in another state for a couple of years now and that would really hurt my relationship with my son. Doing what's best for others (like your children and other loved ones) is what God would want.

Well I will tell you prayer is how we talk to God. But on with a few other things. You need to repent and be baptized. Repent means to give up your old ways of sin and not want to do it anymore. And be scriptually baptized. Which means you do the same as Jesus did. You die to sin as Jesus did on the cross. You are buried that is when you go under the water. Then you are resurrected as you come out of the water just as Jesus was resurrected. Read the Bible and listen for God to tell you what to do. God will speak to you in many ways television, magazines and mostly through the Bible. Get yourself into a Bible believing church and true believers will guide you. The rest is up to you and God. I hope this helps you. Amen and Peace out............

Great question by the way

I will suggest you start praying the Gospel (Jesus) everyday.
How does one pray Jesus??

By praying the Rosary. You may not be Catholic but the Rosary is an important path to Holiness.

I will also recommend a book called: "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas a Kempis

God Bless you

For some when they pray for forgiveness and ask the Lord to enter their heart they have a magical Epiphany- for most it doesn't work that way... Go to a christian church- tell the pastor or deacon that you are a new Christian and tell them that you want to be discipled or be involved in a church group...

You may have it reversed because I doubt that the Lord is calling you to move... It may be something that YOU really really want to do and the Holy Spirit is the one telling you that it is wrong to quit your current job, move your children away from their fathers, and moving away from you family. If you truly seek God he will revile himself to you. Pray, Read your Bible and seek the counsel of elders in your church.

Satan actually causes there to be more stumbling blocks in the path of a Christian than a non-Christian. Think about it... Satan already HAS the non-christian- and he doesn't want the Christian to shine their light so more see and come to Christ... Hang in there- most of the time it's harder to be in the family of Christ than not to be...

You have to be careful in the way that Satan will try to manipulate your thoughts. When you are praying, ask God to confirm what you believe He has placed in your heart. Believe me, He will find a way. You may hear it announced on TV, or someone may start talking about it out of the blue, or you may get mailings about it for no apparent reason. Don't just think that everything that comes to your mind is from God. Remember that our mind is Satan's battlefield and he can surely manipulate us that way.

As you grow stronger in the Lord, you will understand His signs more and more and you will begin to realize when Satan is trying to manipulate you. I was saved 13 years ago and am just now beginning to realize what God is all about.

first off i am very glad you are my sister in christ now. my prayers will be with you. i think that you really need to pray about it.. but i think that from all the information that you just gave that you should move and that God is pulling your heart to go witness to someone else hat really needs it.

Also.. to answer ur other question...there is way more to being a christian that just giving ur life to God and praying.. you have to start a personal relationship with him and really commit to trying to act like a chrstian too.

i hope that my advice helps you.

good luck and may God be with you.

If you have peace w/ this move, then everything else will fall in to place. It's hard to give up control to God or anyone in any case. If you know this is your calling, DO it. Don't have any fear, trust God. I believe you will bless more people ,w/ this change. Tell everyone you love that ,God said to do this. I haven't heard my calling yet. GOD BLESS YOU
