my mother has made it clear that she does not approve of me marrying my fiance, she has told me this and she has told him this. She even went as far as to tell him that she knows what I look like when I am in love and she doesn't see it. She has brought up my past relationships as comparisons and really upset him. The worst part is she doesn't tell me when they do talk, he comes to me, usually very upset, and tells me what she is saying. I do not doubt she is saying those things to him, but it needs to stop. I love my fiance very much, I couldn't imagine life without him. How do I tell my mother to back off?

You and your Mom need to have a talk. Tell her that you know she loves you and only wants the best for you, but that is what you have found in your fiance. Explain to her what makes him special to you. Then tell her that you would love to have her blessing, but you plan to marry him one way or the other. I would ask her not to bring up my ex boyfriends from the past because that is disrespectful to your future husband. I would tell her that you don't expect her to like him, but at least treat him with dignity and respect for you. Hopefully you can at least agree to disagree and to accept the situation and stop talking bad about it. Good luck!

Control is a big issue with her, as long as she is in control she is fine, now that your wanting to get married she is afraid of losing it with you. Talk with her and tell her you love her but that she has to stop before it gets way out of hand and someone gets hurts. Tell her that someone would be her since you wouldn't want to be around her anymore. Explain that it is your life and you are the one who has to make the decisions whether be good or bad. Show her love. Some people who have control issues will never stop but hopefully your Mother will.

Take control of your life and tell your mother to back off. She will come around if she still want to continue being in your life.

yes she is over stepping her bounds ! You just need to tell her that you love him and you are marrying him. That's it. And if she continues tell her that she won't be seeing much of you bc you can't deal with her.
