use a moist cloth like a wipe and wipe off the back so that it is cleaned and then insert it in the player and see if that works....usually does for me

or try a dvd cleaner disc

or if it is scratched get one of those scratch repair kits

or just buy a new dvd to replace the old one...they've got awesome deals at http://thaidvd.biz or compare prices at http://www.ebay.com

Look at that back of the disc. If you see scratches, then you will need another copy of that disc. Sometimes, there are smudges (fingerprints), if there is, wipe it with a your shirt. Or the DVd head needs to be cleaned. Go to your local drugstore and buy a dVD head cleaner. Good luck.

It's not because you played too much(it's not quite possible). It's just the scratches that cause the problem, buy a disc polishing liquid to repair minor scratches. if the scratches are serious, there's nothing much you could do.

it's hard to wear out a DVD, but they're easily scratched. That's probably what it is.
