Ok, so here is the deal. The invitation I like and the flowers I want use primarily are red roses. I have dark purple dresses with accents of silver and gold. I am having the bridesmaids wear purple dresses with white roses and I will have an ivory dress with red roses.

Will the red of my roses clash with their purple dresses?

mom thinks so...

It may not really clash -depending on the tone, if anything it sounds like it might - or at least you have too many colors - dark purple, silver, gold, red, white, ivory. (Do you have a link to the dresses you mention? Is it a plum purple or a purple purple? If it is reddish purple you may be okay - it is more a blueish purple - too Red Hat).

Go to the fabric store (or even paint swatches at a hardware store) and find all those colors (match the dark purple as close as you can to your dresses) and put them together. See for yourself what kind of picture it makes. It may be okay. But I don't know....

Maybe if you could eliminate one color- you have ivory & white. Dark purple & red. Maybe have the maids carry red roses too that would give a more cohesive picture. And actually - that might really be okay! (I think the white roses and ivory dress sounds more like a clash than the purple & red).

Good Luck

My colors for my first wedding was red & purple.. Dresses were purple but I had red as an accent color.. The colors go very well together. My suggestion is add some simple red flowers into your bouquets as an accent color and you should be good to go!!!

Yes. It's like those elderly ladies who wear red hats with their purple dresses. Your red roses don't match anything. Switch to shades of pink, maybe.

I think your mom is right. red roses will clash. get either white or purple roses...or white and purple mixed together. just dont go with red.

For your bouquet, I would use purple and white roses. Don't worry about the invitations...no one will notice, remember, or care that the color of the roses on your invitations does not match the color of the roses you actually carry.

Probably depends on the undertones. A blue based purple needs a blue based red; a yellow based purple needs a yellow based red.

Here's a picture of a lighter purple dress with red roses. I think it looks perfectly fine. I think yours will, too.

I think red goes good with purple!

You may want to make thier bouquets red too though.. either mixed with white, or just smaller than yours. That way theres a uniformity amung all of you and the colors won't look so out of place, KWIM?

They do make purple roses. Do white instead of red for yours.

I think red roses mixed with purple roses would be pretty.
