Ha Ha. It has nothing to do with denominations. The fact is, the closer you come to the Holy God, the more aware you become of how far short you fall...it's an inevitable result.
The proof is if you consider those men in the Bible that did, and what happened to them. Isaiah is one, and John in the Book of Revelation. Let's not forget Paul, when he was on his way to Damascus. Everyone of them pretty much fell flat, and I'm surprised that any of them could even speak.
I know I won't fare much better than they did.
As far as guilt is concerned, I suggest you take another look at the freedom we enjoy in Christ.
If you are obedient because it is your "duty", it is works, which we cannot be saved by.
If you are obedient out of love, then that is the works which accompany a living faith.

A very intriguing question, Midge, though I'm afraid many are misreading your final sentence, which doesn't say that Catholics are perfect. I get that you're using the "crooked tooth in a supermodel" example to make a point, not to say that physical/aesthetic beauty is anything akin to moral perfection or personal value. Trying to live a Christ-like life, as Catholics perceive it, is a very tall order. When every boy judges himself against God-in-the-flesh and every girl wants to grow up to be the Virgin Mary, that's just asking for disappointment.

I think I'm going to... vomit.
Since when does physical beauty define "perfection". Is your God a god because he is gorgeous AND has straight teeth and a good personality?
"Do we feel the guilt more because we are so close to perfection himself?"
Your pride and greed are showing. Perhaps you should start feeling guilty now. It doesn't seem like you have a grasp on the fact that there are people who don't believe everything you do who feel guilt for their poor actions as well.
If you felt such guilt, Midge, then why do you go on here lambasting homosexuality and atheism? Shouldn't you keep your anger and hatred to yourself?
I have never read such a ridiculous question.

If you want the true answer to this watch magazine titles and headlines.... OMG another celebrity messes up again.... but because they are a celebrity and everyone knows them and they are close to the best they can be none ever looks at the good they do.... So yes I agree totally with what you are saying... when you become that "close to perfect" person... people start trying to find your bad qualities....
I hope I answerd the question

Hun...no one alive today or for a very long time is close to perfection in anyway. That comes straight from God to MOST of us Christians. You are a sinner, you will not even come near perfection until you die.
The guilt of Catholics...my dear....you do not own guilt...even religious guilt.

It is easier to see the little things that are wrong when most of it is perfect, but no I don't think Catholics are closest to perfection.

I think perfection isn't for now and what we think of as perfection is impossible really for us to work out. There is no perfection yet. Thank God. If perfection is in this worlds remit then BOG TO PERFECTION cos I don't want it.

That's been the opinion of the great fathers and mothers (St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila) of the Spiritual Life. Read "Dark Night of the Soul". As one passes through the Purgative Way and gets rid of sinful practices, the remaining sins (or, those sins we would call "besetting" sins) become more glaring. As one reaches the Illuminative and Unitive states of prayer, it becomes even more blatant.

Boy that's a good question. I don't think Catholics are anywhere near perfection though. I am one so I know.

Is that why everyone keeps pointing out the "bad" things about paganism?
