at least once a year, my medication needs to be adjusted for graves disease. i become extremely shaky, have trouble walking, am fatigued and my muscles stiffen up and get really sore. i don't understand why one level of medication is not effective. i'm sick of being off work while my medication is adjusted. any advice would be helpful.

My husband has a thyroid problem and in the beginning it was difficult with the changing of his medication. His medication is now regulated and he is doing great.

At one time we were having problems with his medication not working for the moods swings as well and his doctor told
him is not to go back and forth between the generic and synthroid. He told him to stick to one brand and stay with it because each brand is formulated a little different.

My husband tried natural remedies for his thyroid before starting the medication but it did not work for him. I think it depends on the severarity of it.

I think every single person with a thyroid problem is extremely frustrated with their care. I think doctors are awful with thyroid problems because they are women's diseases.

My frustration goes like this:
Month 1:
Me: Doctor, I have hypothyroid symptoms.
Doctor: Hmph.
Month 2:
Me: Doctor, I have hypothyroid symptoms.
Doctor: Hmph.
Month 3:
Me: Doctor, I have hypothyroid symptoms.
Doctor: Hmph.
Month 4:
Me: Doctor, I have hypothyroid symptoms.
Doctor: Hmmm. You've been complaining about these symptoms for a long time. Maybe we should do something about it.
Month 5:
Me: Doctor, I have hyperthyroid symptoms.
Doctor: Hmph.
Month 6:
Me: Doctor, I have hyperthyroid symptoms.
Doctor: Hmph.
Month 7:
Me: Doctor, I have hyperthyroid symptoms.
Doctor: Hmph.
Month 8:
Me: Doctor, I have hyperthyroid symptoms.
Doctor: Hmmm. You've been complaining about these symptoms for a long time. Maybe we should do something about it.
Repeat

That's me. The human yo-yo.

Your doctor is jerking you around. Get off the medication and you'll feel better. There are natural cures for thyroid problems. Look into them.
