Head lettuce is not the greatest for cats..endive or dark greens are better for your kittie.
if you want to feed your cat food with veggies i suggest Innova Evo. It includes whole, raw fruits and vegetables which contain health promoting phytochemicals and micronutrients. Low Carb, Hi-Protein and Grain Free. Alfalfa sprouts help satisfy your pet's natural urge to graze.

Not at all, the contents are akin to grass. Most parts of common store-bought lettuce are iceberg lettuce, which are actually mostly water! Keep in mind that your cats will prefer to consume meat, as they are by nature carnivores. Don't try to make your cat a vegan anytime soon. :)

And yes, there are plenty of studies have been done trying to link a domestic animal's grass eating (which would include the consumption of lettuce) with an illness, a deficiency in diet, or any sort of lack of fibrous materials.

But all have failed to find any strong correlation to any particular problem.

Anyone who has owned cats knows that everything that is said about them will be proved wrong by one cat or another.

Like the one about them only eating the amount they need ... what to become a really fat cat?
Like them being perfectly balanced.. until they fall into the washing basket again
Like them being pure carnivores... except when they eat (insert surprisingly uncatlike dietary item here).

They can eat grass with no more harm to their health than having to wait until you're eating to throw it up on the carpet you've just cleaned then mince off looking smug, so I'm sure that lettuce is fine, along with cucumber, banana, lychees, baked beans, mexican food, spaghetti, peanut butter, margerine, hula hoops and a whole load of other stuff that cats I have known have shovelled down over the years...

I agree with Audrey A... however, I just wanted to point out that some animals that don't usually eat greens get diarrhea from it. Most greens, especially lettuce, contain almost no nutritional value and are very moist.

Lettuce? I wouldn't think so. But I don't really know alot of cats that eat lettuce!

No, its perfectly fine.

edit:
For those of you who think I'm "wrong", take a look at the below link. Lettuce, like grass, is safe for cats, just holds no nutritional value. A cat should not exist on a diet of lettuce, but it won't hurt if it steals a few peices from your plate.

Lettuce is not toxic or anything like that. But keep in mind that lettuce holds no nutritional value whatsoever for cats. Cats are strictly carnivore. (Dogs are omnivore, which means they do require some veggies in their diet)
Also keep in mind that cats GI tract is not made to accommodate veggies, and some GI upset may be seen if he eats too much.
Personally, I would not let my cats have it as treats.

A wild cat I rescued was brought up on eating human food so he's a big begger. He does eat lettuce and nothing bad has happened to him.

It's bad for a cat to just eat it alone and everyday instead of eating meat. Cats are mostly carnivores (meat eaters). It's of for them to eat lettace just not all the time and a cat has to have meat in it's diet.
~I hope this helped

I really don't think a cat will eat lettuce, but if it did it shouldn't hurt him.
