~Don’t watch TV or even so much as look at a computer screen atleast 30 minutes before you lie down. The light from both a television as well as a computer monitor mimic the same intensity of light as sunlight. This fools your body and brain into thinking it’s nowhere near time for sleep.

~Drink milk. Milk has an amino acid in it called Tryptophan that increase the levels of serotonin and/or melatonin in the brain which slow down brain activity. It’s science folks.

~Go to bed when you are tired. Different strokes for different folks here. Just because your wife goes to bed at 9PM doesn’t mean you are ready. You might only require seven and half hours of sleep while she might require ten. If you aren’t tired, do something low-key until you are, like read a book, play solitaire (NOT on your computer), or play with some legos.

~Reserve the bed for bed things (ie sleep and sex). I for one don’t strictly follow this rule as I’ll read some before I go to sleep, but for some people this is a must.

~Meditate. No, don’t cross your legs and hum, but focus on relaxing…if that makes sense. Take deep, long breaths. Tense each muscle one at a time from head to toe. Focusing on doing this takes your mind off of other things and you’ll be in lala land in no time.

~Excercise during the day. I emphasize during the day. Excercising at night just gets everything going instead of shutting down for sleep. But excercising during the day tires the muscles out and makes for a solid nights sleep.

well Mark , this is the best way I have found , First have a nice warm bath , or shower, Then put some nice soft music, just so you can hear it. Into to bed and relax your body . Imagine your body is full of sand , your body is so heavy that you can´t move. Your leg´s are heavy your upper body is heavy your arms are heavy keep thinking about the sand. Then imagine your body has tiny little holes , all over your body are these little holes. the sand is slowly flowing out of the little holes relax , relax . Think of the sand flowing from the holes, your body is so heavy, sand , sand so heavy , are you still awake, try this and you will go to sleep. Just remember how heavy the sand is

I have found that the best, and definately the quicked way to fall asleed is to lie on your back, and try and blank you mind to the point where u are really not thinking of anything, there are no thoughts in your head. It doesnt take any time to get used to this method, maybe 2 or 3 days. But it really works well.

You need a basic routine firstly. You should also close curtains and keep noise at a minimum. Don't eat or drink sugery things close to bedtime. Also ave the room as dark as possble. Then get in a good position and think about something that won't worry you.

I'm a troubled sleeper and sometimes even OTC sleeping pills wouldn't work for me. I'm very bothered by noises that aren't consistant. Like heavy breathing or movements will keep me up.

My boyfriend ended up getting me a sound machine for Christmas, and it works like a charm! Seriously. It sounds lame, but I use "rainfall" every night. It basically just sounds like it's raining outside, and the consistant noise relaxes me and puts me right to sleep.

You might want to try it if nothing else works, especially since sleep aides are habit-forming.

Long hot bath, cuddly pyjamas, cup of horlicks, get comfy in bed with a good mag or book, dim the lights and relax. The only other thing i can think of is a good session of rumpy pumpy!

Try Valerian Root. Take 2 or 3 a couple hours before you usually go to bed and you'll sleep like a baby. It's all natural. No drugs. No aftereffects. Try it!

Have a warm bath, then relax with a book - avoid TV. Drink herbal tea i.e. peppermint or chamomile. Lavender candles may help too.

Whenever I cannot sleep, I always go and take a nice hot relaxing shower. The warmth is soothing and it relaxes your body which helps you sleep. Also, try spraying some lavendar mist on your pillow. Lavendar also helps you sleep.
