G'day,
Unfortunately you didn't mention where are you now. I am assuming you are in QLD as well?
Wherever state you are, for weekend best to visit the country town within your state.
Example, I live in Melbourne. So for the weekend I would probably go to Ballarat or Bendigo for gold rush adventure, or Great Ocean Road for sightseeing, or Penguin sightseeing at Phillip Island or bushwalking in the Grampians. If I wanna go to QLD, then I would probably prepare to spend abt at least 3-4days. The best holiday I've done is to Tasmania, takes abt 5days. BTW... this is typical 'Asian' holiday schedule, rush in to visit a site, take pics, and then zoom to another site... may be too rush for you ;)
So if you are in QLD maybe Gold Coast?

Magnetic Island is a good place to relax or Cairns, you can visit the rainforest.
